I'd like to thank E_A for being gracious in victory, and Nuffle for the fact that all of my players made it out alive.

Kamica: I'm not sure that I agree. I don't think my match in particular is a good benchmark for a high vs. low TV game. I'm sure that it helped to some degree, but there were a number of other factors:

1) I didn't spend all of the inducement money that I could have, and used the inducements that I bought incorrectly. I really should have bought some bribes before the timer ran out.*

2) I am quite new to Blood Bowl, only having played 10-15 matches( with last night's included). Furthermore, I was nervous about my game, as it's the first GOG Blood Bowl League game I've ever played, and I made a lot of silly decisions.

3) E_A is a skilled player that knows his team well. I feel that I would have received a beating, even if we'd been at a level TV.

*Speaking of inducements, I've been meaning to ask you all about star players. Was I just unlucky with Morg last night, or did I use him incorrectly?

And you play Goblins which aren't really a tier 1 team.

I only saw parts of the match but I would say that you were unlucky on several occasions, for example getting that double skull with Morg. That was just bad luck.
And then you were hit pretty hard by sweltering heat if I remember correctly.
And E_A had what? Three blitzes as kick-off events?

I would agree that your match isn't really a good example of what happens when a new team meets an old team. I wouldn't make a general assumption from that.

rcthedigitalhero: One thing to note: In season 2, nobody expected Arnob to beat Rodzaju's returning champion lizards. But he did it.
Yeah i had quite a bit of luck in that match. But even with luck, the main thing that you need to do is make sure you limit your opponents play. My main factor in winning that game was the halfling chef, stealing all the rerolls in the first half and thus making it harder for Rod to do all the things he wanted to do and make his turns end really quickly once or twice. But i've also played against EA's elves, they are hard to limit their movement (even with only a handful left they can still score easily :(.

Personally im not a big fan of star players. Because of their loner they are a bit hard to use, failing important blitzes and such. But then again if you got spare inducements, why not :), they make a good target and if they get hurt it does not matter much :).
Additionally, I don't know how the people on this forum run the numbers (I've seen Psyringe and E_A do it), but I'd like to see if this game was as one-sided as it felt to me.

If someone would be willing, I'd give a cookie to them.

Havent tried that yet myself, but am going to...eventual. As with so many other things ;)

... try to remember to add the link link to bb manager among the other bb links.

I suppose the programs forum is this: http://forum.bbleague.org/forumdisplay.php?f=255

I haven't watched the match, haven't seen your team yet, and don't know which star players you have access to, so maybe I should keep my mouth shut, but in true wood elven fashion I'll jabber ahead anyway. ;)

I never picked Morg as a star player. Sure, he's good, but he simply isn't worth the asking price. For that price, you can often get _two_ other star players, or a halfling chef and an extra re-roll, or a wizard plus several other things. For a goblin team, bribes are also a great option.

Basically, as a goblin team, your main objective (imho) is neither great passing nor bashing, but simply causing utter chaos. The more havoc you wreak, the lesser get the chances of a developed opposing team to get its game going. Goblins are (imho) not so great at building their own game, but uniquely well suited for destroying that of their opponents. And then, when chaos is rampant, Nuffle decides on the victor (it seems that in your case, Nuffle favored the other player, which can of course happen as well).

I'll run it through the analysis tool if E_A doesn't. I'm waiting on E_A with this because I don't know if he has set up a league in the statistics tool for division 2 already, and if he has, it's better to register the match there when doing the analysis.

In case anybody from division 1 intends to use this tool: I've set up a league called "GoG Weekly - S3 - D1". The league has no password. It would be great if you could add your matches there - that would allow calculating interesting statistics over the whole division later. The tool uploads all analyzed matches to a central server, so it's possible for several users to contribute to the statistics of a given division.

As a statistics nut, I'm obviously interested in any analyses the tool has to offer, but I doubt I can process a lot of matches alone. The problem is that the tool can only analyze a match that has just been played or watched completely (it uses temporary data, which gets overwritten between matches). And I can't watch every single match, so I won't be able to add every match for the statistics.

Probably. It happened to me also in the previous season, where he failed two blocks in a row, but he is one of the best star players in my opinion, I counted with him in all matches I could with the skavens and was money well spent.

To me the central tenet for inducements is to us them to reduce enemy advantages and to enhance your own play. So they have to fit the match-up.

Morg is really expensive but can be a good choice against basher teams. Against them he can break (and keep) open cages that would be unassailable otherwise and he usually binds at least two or three players (strength teams don't dodge well) who try to keep him down. Against an agility team like mine there was just no need for him. I was unlikely to play beat-down anyway.

Most agilty teams weakness is re-rolls. Unlike, for example, dwarfs the basic team comes without any re-roll skills so they are utterly dependent on their team re-rolls. If I drop under two I'm starting to struggle. Your teams strength on the other hand is high numbers (so you can afford to lose some on fouls) and the specialists (chainsaw etc).

So my choice would have been: Master Chef (to hinder my play) and lots of bribes (keep your specialists in play; if needed for fouling but that is secondary). Add two or so Budweiser Babes (Cheap. Keeps your numbers up) and a wizard (lightning bolt on a ball carrier is a nice stopper). There may also be some nice additional specialist star players for Gobbos. Not an expert there.

Sorry, I had no idea it was my turn, I thought there were still a few people before me.

I'll pick War of the Human Tanks.
