gameon: Poor old Gamersgate. They messed up, but they aren't that bad.
Yeah, but their approach to customers is funny. Reward people who took advantage of your
errors, ignore others.

Basically the same thing EA did with the Origin coupon fuck-up.

Thing is, no matter what they do when trying to smooth out a situation like this, they can't win. They'll either piss some segment of their user base off, or they'll end up losing more money by trying to give everyone something in compensation.

Go people, exploit every error you see on GG, maybe they cancel your order but you get discount
for trying.
No rewards for long time supporters, no use for experience points/levels, only discount for
exploiters. Good riddance GG.
Don't forget that they charge you three times the price for one item on occasion (just had it happen for Defender's Quest...posted it in the I HATE Gamersgate!!1 thread).

More like trying to take advantage of their own mistakes to make a profit/recover their losses. A sensible business decision IMO... although there's always the chance that their older costumers will interpret the same way as you and GG will end up with less potential purchasers than before. lol
Hell, if I'd have known you would get the 20% I'd have kept fighting and placed an order too. I figured they were long out of stock and would get canceled, but it would have been worth it to get that discount.

Also, I think this is a Gamersglitch price. Rift Storm Legion Infinity Edition $11.24. That makes it cheaper than the normal Storm Legion expansion. It was on sale for $22.48 the other day I think, now this price is 50% off that. I have too many MMOs to try to consider it, but a good deal for anyone getting into Rift.

So, 20% off on all purchases for a year? Not bad, probably even better than the Bethesda/Borderlands glitch, well, expect maybe for the users that signed up specifically for either of those deals and didn't get them, they probably won't be buying anything again even with the 20% off incentive.

Doing the right thing is it's own reward. Or so I've heard.

They act in accordance with the law. It's not like they have a choice. And they hope that those who got a confirmation email and no code can be bought of that cheap.
GG 20% off for whole year, thats pretty nice. I wish i had tried to buy the Bethesda pack, damn.

This. Im actually ok with them refunding since it was a little shady to take advantage of a price
fuckup in the first place. 20% off coupon for a full year is a generous compensation in
my book.
Then again they did stop the Gamersgate level dependent incremental sales they had in 2010.

BTW: You CAN buy Blue Coins with this Gamersgate 20% off discount. (for a limited time anyway)

I must admit I'm pretty annoyed about this too, I did the right thing or so I thought by not jumping on the glitch bandwagon , and this is how they deal with it ... should be 20% of for the customers that didn't try and screw them over !

I agree, though to be honest I would have exploited it if I had the money in my account >.>

Well I had plenty of cash but didn't take advantage of it ... though I'm guessing now maybe I should have , and no matter how much I want a game on GG in the future , I guess I'll be thinking that someone somewhere is getting this game 20% cheaper than me unfairly :(

I've been miffed at GG since they cancelled the IGN discount. It was a bad business decision that costs them money long term. If I had that discount during the Holiday sales, I would have actually bought games from GG. Instead all that money went to Steam or GOG.

Now knowing they've rewarded people who tried to cheat their system with discounts again rubs me the wrong way. It's a minor issue, but it makes me feel unappreciated as a consumer.
that is bad practice - when i first heard about that i thought it was rumour but seeing it here im a little disgruntled.
glad i decided to not use them a while back!
