Right off the top of my head some tracks come to mind.

-Gaur Plains - Xenoblade Chronicles
-Those Who Bear Their Name - Xenoblade Chronicles

So good they used both of them in the new Smash Brothers reveal video. I guess they were more than just my favourite tracks in the game.

- Bloody Tears from the Castlevania series comes to mind, too. I'm thinking of lots of guitar tracks today, it seems.

There have been some really great suggestion so far, which I totally agree with : ) Anyway, I could go on forever about game music, but I'll leave at at those three for now.

Matewis: Oh yres I can't wait to sink my teeth into the zelda series :D
The metroid music is also very cool, which is yet another great series I never played, although I did play this gem which metroid for some reason reminds me of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9pUaHdtlMA
(never finished it - becomes insane towards the end)
One thing I forgot to mention in the list about Zelda has for the most part been simple and and easy to pick up and play games. The challange for the most part comes down to puzzles.

I recommend you start with the 3D Zelda's first, but in this Order:

Ocarina of Time 1
Twilight Princess 2
Majora's Mask 3
And Wind Waker 4
Also if you play Skyward Sword after beating the last 4 games don't go in with BIG expectations. People who did not like the game went with big expectations and payed at full 60$ price. (Though you can got nuts on the Soundtrack :) And of course you need to buy a Wii Motion Plus or a Wii-Mote built in with a Wii Motion plus.

Also for Metroid. From Best to least

Metroid Prime (The Masterpiece and if your hardcore disable the hint system so its completely exploration based)
Super Metroid (Second Masterpiece)
Metroid Prime 2 (the hardest game in the series)
Metroid Fusion (A big Linear in that they show waypoints alot but IMO its the scariest game in the series)
Metroid Zero Mission (Remake of the first and short, simple, but sweet)
Metroid Prime 3 (The easiest thanks to Hyper Mode, I kinda compare to Mass Effect 2 in that they simplifyed alot)
Metroid Other M (Gameplay wise I had fun, but after playing the last games first this might dissipoint you)
Metroid NES and Metroid 2 for Game Boy (Aged badly especially NES one, but Metroid 2 fares a bit better)

Awesome thank you! you're cluster bombing my free time though :) Actually for the moment I'm still safe as I still need to get a Nintendo console :P I'd love to check out some of those metroid titles as well, but as far as classic platformers go I have some old foes that demand greater attention : legal playthroughs of the the first two Prince of Persia games...

Unless you don'nt mind I can show you links to emulators to play at least some of the Metroids and Zeldas (in messages) Do you have an Xbox or PS3 controller?

Mark Morgan - Deionarra's Theme (Planescape: Torment)

Ah yes the legendary Planescape Torment music <3 <3 <3 The fortress also had incredible . However the most beautiful music out of the infinity engine games for was from the 2nd icewind dale : [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW5r1QWMF9Q]Targos town.
Neverwinter nights also had incredible music, e.g. the menu music of the first one
Dueling Banjos from Deliverance

Always thought the story would make a good survival game.

Kind of Epic, mostly calmly: Might & Magic Heroes VI - Haven theme
avatar
Elmofongo: Heroes of Might and Magic is a turn based strategy game right? Say if I play Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Afavance Wasrs, I am capable of Playing this?
I see no reason why not, tactics games are complex generally.

I second this. The whole soundtrack is amazing, but this one is best.

Other two great ones are Time to Die

and Flying on the Wings of Steam

tinyE: If anyone gets bored feel free to make a thread about shit music in games/movies. I'd do it myself but then everyone would jump on me for being too negative. :D
I've been trying to think of an example since yesterday, but I just can't think of one! My mind might be blocking the painful memories or something. A google search has enlightened me:

This is just wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong,

Also, trying to think of some bad music has short-circuited my brain since I can't stop thinking of Tremors for some reason.
Also HoMM2 had some nice cities music if you enable opera in setting. I especially liked Barbarian

Ys 7 Crossing Rage!
Xenoblade Main Theme
Xenoblade Mechanical Rhythm
Bravely Default Beneath The Hollow Moon
Bravely Default Love's Vagrant
Bravely Default The Civil War Country
Final Fantasy the man with the machine gun
Tales Of Vesperia A Bet On This Bout
Borderlands Skag Gully High Action
Borderlands 2 Glacial
Borderlands 2 Dam Top

I'll post more later, maybe. There's already alot here.
Nordom theme in Planescape Torment.

Dwarven Halls in Divine Divinity.

Both above not epic maybe, but very coolly before their times, still modern today.

Epic - De'Arnise stronghold end of quest theme. Pretty uplifting.

Edit: spelling.
