Elmofongo: So I have been playing Call of Duty 1 recently.

Wow yes that is beautiful. I've been thinking I should investigate it sometime: it seems that a certain type of music now 'belongs' to WW2 media. Even if I didn't know what it came from, I'm pretty sure that I would've guessed the music was from some WW2 game or film, especially from 02:00 onward. I wonder why that is. Of the genre, Band of Brother's music is the most phenomenal to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZOJ0_sRznM

Lately I've been getting into 80s style synthpop music. Here is my favorite thus far:

I'm not that big on opera I'm afraid, though I do love me some Madame Butterfly from time to time. (and that's not even her best rendition of the song)

The latest composition that I've discovered after a long search (I originally heard a piano version and made the mistake of thinking that it was specifically a piano piece) is the theme from the 1960 film Exodus. I'm still super stoked about finding this piece - it's incredible!

ps - apologies for the super-late reply :P

Sometimes I wish that I'd stuck with the game and attempted a proper playthrough. Looks like a pretty cool level : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pha5NIzI3ng

Oh ho ho ho you will smash your head on the table or wall in frustration of the sniper town level. Its not even consiered shameful to play on easy because on the harder, 1 hit and you are dead. And because of that I finally beaten the game.

Now here's another piece from another thing. The soundtrack in Beowulf is HYPE:

Anything by Jesper Kyd rocks, especially his Assassin's Creed 2 soundtrack

Danny Baranowsky - Crypt of the Necrodancer soundtrack is amazing

Rémi Gazel - Rayman on PSX is probably my fave game of all time and the soundtrack is brilliant

Also the Last Ninja 2 soundtrack by Matt Gray is one of my faves

Some interesting looking zones in that clip, but I'm afraid it's not the best zone music (I'm guessing it's zone music?) I've heard in WoW. Are you still excited for the game? I'm finding that my excitement for WoW is rapidly waning, and I think it is because the game's vibe is moving further and further away from the classic Warcraft games (1 to 3). I played up to Cataclysm, and it contained zones which for the first time really bored me, in particular the egypt themed zone and underwater zones, which just didn't feel right.
The Warlords of Draenor expansion was the first one after WotLK that really seemed interesting, in no small part because of its incredible trailer which, like Burning Crusade and WotLK, again built on pivotal moments of pre-wow history: the original corruption of the orcs, and Mannoroth's Warcraft 3 death by the hand of Hellscream.
How did you find you the newest cinematic trailer? To me is by far and large the weakest one yet, and comes across as rather cheesy :(

What we really need is Warcraft 4 :P

Mist of Pandaria's cinematic is even cheesier :P

Warlords of Draenor is so far the worst expansion in the entire game. Barely enough content. Worst PVP. Garrisons pretty much killed going out in the world. Garrisons themselves function like a Facebook game. Grindy, Grindy quest for Apexis Crystals. And a story that is almost irrelevent. More so than Pandaria.

Only good thing is the Raid content and Leveling Zones.

Yet all the things I am hearing about in Legion is hype.

We get to see the Emerald Dream, The Quest to get Artifact Weapons brings back old faces like Lich King Bolvar, Tirion Fordring, etc.

Retribution Paladins get Ashbringer. Frost Deathknights get basically 2 swords forged from the shards of Frostmourne. Shamans get Doomhammer.

Oh and Demon Hunter class.

And it feels more futhering the story I mean we see more character development. Varian Wrynn is confirmed to die so his now 18 year old son Anduin is King. Slyvanas Windrunner is now Warchief of the Horde after Vol'jin is missing in Battle.

Elmofongo: ...
My main used to be a retribution paladin :)

I guess I'll try and catch up a bit on the lore at some point, but without playing through it myself I doubt that it will grab me the same way that the intermittent cutscenes and chapter-end cinematics of WC3 did. Sadly I never got to experience the wow equivalent for significant story progression, i.e. the high level raids, during my short stint in wow. Perhaps if I did I would've had more interest in the recent lore developments :P
