rjbuffchix: This Two Point Hospital game sounds truly terrible. It gets Zero points from me. Why do they think we want to buy DRMed (or online-required...whatever...) products?
There *IS* a lot of local, DRM-free content. It just so happens that there's also a lot of (optional, but not even cosmetic in this case (not that that makes a difference)] additional online-gated content.
A comparison for other games:
* Imagine if FTL only unlocked certain weapons for you after you'd played online ranked time trials for X amount of time.
* Or imagine if a Civ game didn't let you build certain wonders of the world until a certain number of players had completed a match after you'd first started playing and said "go online to share stats".
Two-Point Hospital *is* a complete game. But it has some features stripped away hidden behind online requirements, DRM-style. If they were simply not present at all (it'd be like "GOG didn't get a certain DLC"), it would be better IMO. But that they're present, but require tons of hurdles to get to, that's a problem.
Of course, best, would be for them just to change the GOG release to activate them pre-emptively, or change the "online component" to the research system the game already has. (Instead of them being in a separate fake-multiplayer second research system that requires multiple players to do weird challenges for points to unlock it for everyone.)
