Three pillars of Electronic Arts now DRM-free

No matter your personal take on the gaming giant – the many people, teams, and studios behind Electronic Arts brought us some of the most unforgettable experiences, marvelous worlds, and exceptional titles in gaming.
Each of today's three classic releases from Electronic Arts represents a pillar of game design: exceptional world building, mastery in storytelling, an admirable understanding of the balance between scope and focus. Straight from the EA Games vault, making their DRM-free debut on GOG.com, are:

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition — the birth of a universe. A complex, extensive universe of raw fantasy and imperfection which spawned countless works reaching far beyond gaming - from graphic novels and novelizations through tabletop games and more. The Dragon Age universe is among the most ambitious fantasy settings ever created, and if you'd like to get more acquainted with the universe, turn up the fantastic soundtrack and take a look at the comprehensive guide to Dragon Age by Kotaku.

Dead Space is a glance at a gritty, hard sci-fi world in a state of irreversible disrepair. This is a game where the horrors lurking around the corner are just as disturbing as ghosts of the past. The glimpses are few, but they meticulously paint a vivid world of dark, scientific wonders and despair – a world you barely know, but a world nonetheless worth saving. A world you will remember. Check out the animated comic prologue available here, as well as the OST on Spotify.

SimCity 3000™ Unlimited is more than the sum of its parts. It's neither the biggest nor the most elaborate in the series, but it's success lies in balancing complexity and accessibility to deliver truly exceptional and welcoming gameplay. It doesn't hurt that you'll spend countless hours listening to a wonderfully jazzy soundtrack (also on Spotify!). Whether you succeed or stumble, one thing is certain: your stay in SimCity 3000 will be… nice.

Experience three pillars of game design by Electronic Arts – the marvelous worlds, unforgettable storytelling, exceptional gameplay – Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, Dead Space, and SimCity 3000™ Unlimited are now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

wolfsite: Two Questions:

1. Does this mean the Mass Effect series is in the pipeline?

2. Will there be an Origin Connect feature (like with Steam) that will allow us to claim games in the future here?
I doubt that we gonna see Mass Effect 2 or 3 with the whole Bioware Points . Maybe a version with no DLCs but even then its a stretch. ME2 and 3 are yet to get a release with all DLCs in it so yeah.. dont count much on them in the near future sadly.
I have to admit I was very sceptical when I saw posts about these games appearing on Gog. Man, was I wrong.

Now I own Dragon Age Origins and Dead Space on three different online platforms :(
Now this is a surprise

omega64: Galaxy or GOG downloader?
Downloader isn't officially supported anymore. :P

tinyE: I know it isn't officially supported anymore but it not working is forcing me to leave the site. 700 + games that are useless because I don't want to use Galaxy.
Just curious, what's your contention with using Galaxy when you're okay with using the downloader?

JMich: Which one of you runs the "Let's tease the forum" class? And are you aware of what happens when you start teasing us too much?
A FUNSPLOSION!

deonast: I just use firefox to download. Just start a bunch of the small ones, and if you have 4GB+ files you have to do one at a time. I find if I have a couple of large ones going often one will stop. Sure it will take longer to do it that way but it will work (well does for me)

tinyE: I can't do anything larger that 500mb with the browser because my I tend to lose my connection every 20 minutes which resets everything.
Damn that is a bad internet connection or router. Mine is just not all that fast on broadband terms but reasonably stable. The router gets a reboot every now and then as it slows to half speed but beyond that it is at least consistent.

kokosabre: I doubt that we gonna see Mass Effect 2 or 3 with the whole Bioware Points .
I hope you are right. Enough shovelware here so no need to further degrade the quality on the site with adding ME 2 and ME 3 on top.

lgogdownloader works nicely ... maybe you could start up a linux vm for it? downloads all your 700+ games with 4 parallel downloads in one go if you want it to...

edit: just caught up with the thread ... I'm positive it also resumes the downloads when you loose your connection in between and of course you can download one game at a time also...

A couple of good games for Connect.

I recommend a download manager like DownThemAll!. I started to use it a while ago and it has all the functionalities of the GOG Downloader, a lot of additional useful stuff and it is easy to use.
Yeeeaaaahhhhhh!

Admittedly I won't be buying these (perhaps Dead Space in the future), but it's great to see such highly-desired games here. :)

They arent bad.. but thanks to EA greed they are incomplete... and I know that from personal experience( 40 euros for the more important DLCs for both games) . But a realease of ME1 alone without the rest will be a joke. Then again Steam only got ME2 and 3 so as said, the most we can see from Mass Effect series is the first game.

tinyE: Download Paused?

WTF? Fix your downloader!

NuffCatnip: Same here, I have no intentions of downloading Galaxy, so this is a bit of a problem. :/
What with all the recent problems with GOG Downloader I went on a search for a download manager and found one that is an add-on for Firefox so it integrates perfectly. It also has a pause and resume feature which is invaluable. Anyway it's called DownThemAll and I can highly recommend it. It also saves all the bother of wondering if large files will download OK without errors. Not sure if you use Firefox but if you do I hope this info is helpful :)

Edit: Ninja'd.
