We used this year’s spring cleaning to dust off some of the great DOS classics.

Thanks to the partnership and long-time cooperation with the DOSBox Crew, together we’ve managed to enhance with cloud saves feature over 100 classics, with more to come.

Since the introduction of the Universal Cloud Saves to GOG Galaxy, the feature has been added to more and more all-time classics that never offered save syncing and cloud backups. Working closely with DOSBox Crew and adding cloud saves to older games is another step that we take to improve gamers experience with good old games.

Many of these cloud saves enabled DOS classics joined the Spring Sale line up offering savings for such must-haves like Colonization (-75%), Dungeon Keeper Gold (-75%), Heroes of Might and Magic (-75%), Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 (-75%), Wing Commander III (-75%), classic X-COMs (-75%), and many more.

Will the fixed versions have different version numbers? Else it will be impossible to tell apart from the unfixed ones.

Issue is not with games, but with the client. Hopefully rebuilds won't be necessary.

Ok, so downloaded offline installers should be ok?
That explains why a bunch of older games I have got updated.
So it looks like you got DOSBox to add a `mount -t overlay` command, which will redirect all written data to the cloud save directory. Neat! Hopefully this will be propagated to the more advanced Dosbox builds as well. Good job guys!

FulVal: DOSBox 0.74-2.1 is a new version that i can't find in DOSBox official site...
the .1 is to make it easier for GOG to recognize it and in general to recognize it.
Code wise, it is 0.74-2 + suggested linux fix from our homepage + overlay code.
It's not an official release at this point.

It's a bit more complicated than that ;) but lets not delve too deep into the details.

The code will be included into the main line and will be part of the next "big" release or maybe earlier, so any build based around the main line code will get it.

I'm actually interested in the details. I couldn't find documentation for `-t overlay` so I assumed it just redirects all writes to the overlay mount, while reading first from the overlay mount and if not found, in the regular mount.

Personally I love (DOSBox-ECE since it has enhanced joystick support (great for flight sims and HOTAS), Fluidsynth built in for awesome General MIDI, and MT-32 emulation. Have you guys considered using it or integrating the relevant patches? Fluidsynth in particular would greatly enhance user experience for those games that have general midi support. You could include a free soundfont. MT-32 emulation would be nice too if you could make a deal with Roland to include the roms. And the joystick fixes are essential for your flight sims.

Oh man, since I have your attention, what's up with all the old games on Steam that aren't here? I don't want to buy them on Steam, I want them on GOG! 1942 The Pacific Air War, F-14, Silent Hunter 3. Gunship...
The weat... ehem gaming forecast for the next decennium: Overcast.
Nice work Qbix and GOG!

If anyone is still using my Game Backup Monitor app, I just want to point out you may have issues continuing to use it for GOG DOSBox games.

Yesterday 3 games where updated. Heroes of might and magic 2, zork I and populous. All three games uses the DOS-Box to work. After this, all three games doesnt launch anymore. I used the un-update feature and the old version of the game was installed, but the game still wont start.
The i installed my local backup of one of the affected games (Zork I) and this installation works fine.
Seems to me that the DOS-Box was killed on this 3 Games. The rest of the games i.E. Diablo works fine in the DOS-Box, but this game didnt get an (killer)update.

Please GOG, repair this,
Pentalon

----------------- UPDATE -------------------------
Problem was solved.
Thanks GOG

fyi... Wizardry 6 download link (under the my games section) leads to a 404 page

JudasIscariot: That's right, this is a Galaxy-only feature.
Thank God the offline installers not infected with this feature .

squid_80: The game files aren't modified, just the new dosbox build is configured to put any new/modified files in the cloud_saves directory.
Can I easily revert that setting in dosbox.conf, so that the GOG dosbox and the vanilla one behave the same?

yes, just remove the mount command that has the -t overlay at the end.
