I wish the devs had focused on making interesting use of the destruction physics that Hatred had. Instead we get, what, a stationary gunner game? I like FPSes and think some political incorrectness can be good, but this looks like it could get old fast. But we'll see...
Yeah I'll stick with Rainbow Six for my anti terror shoot em ups thank you ;)

At least the Rainbow Six unit is an international organization sponsered by countries all over the globe.
So it's basically like one of those old light gun games without the light gun, right?

If they wanted to do an anti IS game they could simply have done more or less the same thing as Hatred, but set it in Al-Raqqah.

catpower1980: The player takes the role of NATO’s stationary machine-gun operator,
I was going to cut you off right there but the trailer looks great. Maybe the unwanted turret section in countless games gives me certain preconceptions. This seems determined to be the most insane bombastic arcadey turret game imaginable. If there's one thing Hatred kinda did well it was environmental destruction.

Martek: Could not care less if it never hit GOG.

Qz501: I care, we still don't have Cuban Missile Crisis, Stalingrad, Great Khan, Icy Hell or World War 1 (Enigma games on the Blitzkrieg 1 engine)!

WE STILL DON'T HAVE ARMY MEN 2!!!!

Okay, maybe I am an elitist, I just want more old games.
You're a dude that delivered five tons of testosterone just by wanting these titles.
If I could upvote ya more, I'd click it beyond oblivion!!!!

Unrelated yet related, ever play Toy Soldiers]? Toy Soldiers was Turret Sections done right, had that perfect mix of dynamic gameplay to give the game both a challenge as well as the ability to drive around in tanks and fly jets! No really, that game was amazing, didn't even feel like a turret defense game!

Congratulations, the devs managed to create a game that looks even more boring than Hatred. That's quite impressive.

Only played the demo. You're right, it was a lot of fun.
Oh man this is lame, how is this controversial? By the title I expected them to make the player be the IS defender! Now that would be a funny shitstorm.

Gersen: A game in which you play a soldier killing a bunch of terrorists... sounds like the plot of 80% of FPS and it's not exactly the most controversial one either.
What might be make it controversial though is that you are manning a stationary gun on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea... I took that to mean that you are basically shooting down the incoming asylum seeker boats?

Oh, but they'll hype it just as well or even better than Hatred. People will fall for it again and then cry about it again... rinse and repeat.
I'm ashamed to admit I fell for the Hatred hype... oh God, I'm ashamed.
Rail Shooter? This looks more like a Stand-Still shooter to me.
I wouldn't mind having a fun Rail Shooter like Blue Estate here, though.

budejovice: As an anti-fascist and a Jew, I find people of this ilk far more dangerous to western values than the Islamic State.

MaximumBunny: As an omnisexual libertarian neo-vegan, I find this whole situation to be quite disturbing.
As an omnivorous pro-reason panheretic, I demand that this game at least include a fully automatic pig launcher, pretty please.
I guess I'm one of those "SJW" types when it comes to racism, but...yeah, I really don't see the "controversy" here. From the title and pedigree of the developer, I expected something like a game where you're actually a *part* of ISIL/ISIS, gunning down American soldiers. Or a game where you're "defending" Europe against refugees. (I wonder, would they have included a mission where you have to go to Hungary to kick Syrian refugees?)

Anyway, the anti-terrorism theme isn't all that different from all of the usual Modern Military Shooter FPS out there. Maybe they'll have cutscenes with the obvious racial stereotypes for Middle Eastern Muslim Terrorists? In any case, I actually am interested in playing this, if the gameplay is anything like what they show in the trailer.

However, while I admit it actually looks quite nice, an entire game with nothing but turret sections? A harkening back to Beach Head 2000? Let's hope the game will be better gameplay-wise than Rambo: The Video Game, or Desert Gunner. I feel like the only "controversy" will be the developers' use of an arguably antiquated gameplay system.
that seemed a bit... boring...

and there is no controversy here, this is more or less typical shooter settings. so we now have a seemingly meh game, with a meh setting... so the tag line for this game is basically "from the developers of Hatred"... good luck to them, I do not think I will be following this game very closely.
