phaolo: Dexter's Lab was the best of the pack, but.. still like 7.5/10

NoNewTaleToTell: What made you bump the rating up a .5? Did somebody slip a check in your back pocket?! Shill!
I always translated that as: "It's good, heck even pretty good, but to say it's really, really good... Well, maybe, but it ain't great. Well, it's close, but maybe just above average, even just a little bit."
It makes more sense as a feeling, trust me.

Elmofongo: They will never hold up the standards already set by the Cartoon Cartoons.

In my opinion, they already matched them. I watch them regularly with my kids n think they're hilarious.

Elmofongo: Look at Saychs he says he has seen some legendary form of animation from a bunch of some increadibly talented college studants that he knows.

...Or he could just be fuckin with me :P

NoNewTaleToTell: Dexter's Lab sucked, Powerpuff Girls was very "meh", Courage The Cowardly Dog was very mediocre too. I can't remember a single thing about Samurai Jack so I'm gonna go ahead and call it completely forgettable.
I don't care for the other three but you're definitely mistaken about "Samurai Jack", I discovered it later on and didn't watch the show while it was on air. IMO It is the best thing that Cartoon Network has ever produced among their mostly obnoxious and annoying cartoons.
Dexter's Laboratory was great in the 90s (including Ego Trip). Unfortunately, the early 2000s version was garbage when compared to the original episodes. I believe that was around the time Cartoon Network took over the animation from Genndy Tartakovsky (who at the time, worked on Samurai Jack when the animation switched). To make matters worse, whatever happened to Mandark's sister? :|

Even stranger is when he was introduced originally, he had a Russian-sounding last name. The 2000s edition, his parents were hippies and had the name of Susan. :/

In my opinion, the 1990s version of Dexter Laboratory is superior.

As for other shows, there were plenty of great shows from the 90s and 2000s (up to maybe 2005-2007). Ed, Edd, & Eddy was great and even the finale turned out great. Powerpuff Girls was great from the late 1990s (though it had pilots from 1995/1996) until early 2000s. Quality did start to diminish in the last few seasons and got even worse with the new series popping up (two in fact). This is excluding the anime version of course (which I haven't seen).

I definitely enjoyed Samurai Jack in hopes they would ever finish it. That is one series that needs an ending (there was supposed to be a movie for it). In terms of anime, Cartoon Network happened to be the first channel I saw Dragon Ball Z (back when there was a Funimation/Ocean Group dub). That same dub also played on Kids WB, though usually early in the morning on there. I thought it was nice they played Ronin Warriors for a while on there (which used to play on local channels in the U.S. around 1995/1996). Sailor Moon also played a bit locally before showing up on Cartoon Network (as part of Toonami).

This is pretty much part 1 of my opinion about shows on Cartoon Network as my post can get quite tediously long. :P

Dexter's Lab ended with Ego Trip. Also what the fuck was Mandark's hippie parents thinking he's a girl?

Yep, that is probably my favorite sequence from the entire series as it was brilliantly executed. Also have you seen this fan short that translates the traditional hand drawn aesthetic and art style into 3D animation quite well.

NoNewTaleToTell: Edit: It's a joke folks, phaolo had originally given it a 7/10.
Lol, I wasn't sure. It has both funny and dull episodes.
It's between 7 and 7.5 max in my opinion.
Good but not great.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast was CN's first original cartoon (1994!), and it's still one of their greatest. Those first few seasons were weirder and more subversive than anything South Park ever did.

I do love Gumball and the first three seasons of Adventure Time, though. Foster's and Squirrel Boy, too. Nostalgia shouldn't be allowed to spoil good new stuff.
Hey there baby.

One of my favorite gifts was the first three seasons of SG C2C on DVD. It is so odd and yet brilliant (best displayed in "The Brilliant Number One") at the same time. One of the funniest shows definitely. Many shows try and don't usually succeed at the weird/out there yet subtle enough so as not to be too out there vibe this show hit after a few episodes.

A fellow SGC2C fan! I agree completely, a lot of shows that try to be out-there just end up not being engaging or funny. Space Ghost pulled it off perfectly and not many people give it credit for that.

Also, I actually hadn't seen "The Brilliant Number One" before you mentioned it, but I went and looked it up just now. It's absolutely consciousness-altering. How were they allowed to air stuff this insane?! I love it.

Oh yes I remember those episodes. They were extremely weak compared to the originals. Only two were ok: the one where Dexter's dad washes the car, and the one where he goes to college.

Same thing goes for Johny Bravo. Some very poor episodes were made towards the end.

Incredible! Now if only someone would recreate the entire Bounty Hunters episode using this kind of animation
