Crewdroog: omg Edd, ed and Eddy! I forgot about that!

and as for the 80s, I have fond memories of many shows, Cities of Gold, Danger Mouse, He-man, blah blah blah, but when i've gone back and watched them, I was horrified by how bad many of them were. I can still go back to the 90s/00s cartoons and watch them and enjoy them for the most part.
avatar
Matewis: Yeah I don't think He-man would go down all that well for me these days :P
But this one I think will still be good, and I'm really keen on finding it again because I only saw a few episodes. Oh yes, and then there was this gem
I don't know dogtanian, but mysterious cities of gold? OMG one of my all-time favorite shows growing up, i mentioned it in the post you quoted :). I watched it religiously. I still know the theme song. Man, I haven't watched it in a million years, I may have to rectify that :)

Elmofongo: No I am willing to know some animation from these students you speak of because I am STARVING for quality stories and animation in cartoons.

Please PLEASE recommend me one.

And please tell me its 2D traditional animation?
avatar
Crewdroog: may i suggest Don Hertzfeldt? He's a favorite and very funny. Rejected not quality story, but the animation and effects he does are insane.

There was a show with a great story and cool animation called The Maxx (episode 1). it is an all-time favorite.
Aeon Flux is another good one. The stories are weird (in a good way) and kinda go together, but the animation is stunning and unique.

I haven't watched it in a long time, but the old 90s batman cartoon was dark and good.

Mushi-shi is a beautiful anime, each episode being independent of the other, but it tells nice tales.
I have seen a couple of Aeon Flux episodes. The animation is really UGLY yet I like it. It has the realistic look to it.

The one I remember was this sequence where 2 characters were "kissing" each other and you it from inside their mouths. And he see a tounge opening a tooth to get some microchip inside it.
avatar
Soccorro: Yep! Adults suck! *crawls into pillow fort* but seriously, i still dont get, how ren and stimpy got away with all the gore and depiction of mental illnesses...
avatar
LesterKnight99: Are we talking about the TRUE ren and stimpy, or the adult spin-off?

If its the former, its because Nickelodeon liked risk and creativity. Nowadays, they only go for something that can be the next Spongebob (that is directly from a crew member on Harvey Beaks, another new show on there)
it's funny, I was just talking the other day to soccorro about how the heck ren and stimpy went from MTV to nickelodeon. 'cause if you see the shows they have now, no way it would be on. and i havent seen the adult shows.

hahaha, yes, I love rick and morty. I own season one. I'm waiting for season 2 to finish so i can just binge watch it one lazy sunday. :)

Yes! I know what episode you are referring too! they are both on separate trains and then aeon, as always, goes splat. The animation is ugly, but for some reason that's what makes it so appealing to me. It's a strange beauty. I can't put my finger on it.

I never liked Adventure Time much but recently my brother was watching it and I admit I like it some. I am reluctant to admit that since something about it bothers me still but the way stuff dies all the time makes me crack up. Regular Show is pretty good also, well on a relative scale. I also loved Duck Dodgers (still do) from the early 2k. But still, Johnny Bravo in retrospect was the funniest of the 90s run and Dexter's also. I'll keep it on Cartoon Network and say that it was cool of them to run the old Merrie Melodies cartoons as well.

I really liked that one a lot. Good show, with some extra fun for sci-fi fans. I remember two great episodes that spoofed Samurai Jack and Green Lantern.

On a related note, I really hate the new Looney Tunes show. It's just so... not Looney Tunes. It's so bland, and mediocre, it seriously makes Space Jam look good in comparison.

Loved that show too. The Samurai Jack episode rocked.

Ugh.. Johnny Bravo was one of the worst for me.
Also, I'm probably the only one who didn't love Beavis and Butthead..

I loved Johnny Bravo, but I'll stand with you on Beavis and Butthead. I never found it funny, and it was just ugly and unlpeasant to look at. I always thought that it's just some american thing that I don't get. Like baseball.
oh since we are talking about cartoons and I mentioned Don Hertzfeldt: he has a kickstarter for a new blue-ray DVD of his latest shorts. There are only 8 days left, and while he did meet his goal by a lot, he's still an amazing artist that hasn't gone commercial even with his success (at least not that i'm aware).

He made a simpsons couch gag that's absolutely mind-melting:

I'm not even sure if it went on air normally here.
The sketches were quite short, and the most part consisted in music videos with some commenting.
It was a bit boring for me, due to that.

(Also including you other post)

1. Well hey at least The Looney Tunes Show gave us this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Oe7Q8OCm5I

2. Beavis and Butthead was released at a time when "Adult" cartoons were a new thing and marketed to the MTV demographic.

3. I have no idea why Football (Soccer) is such a global worldwide sport? And that sport looks difficult to play, Baseball is a sport imo anyone can play.

There's a... new Looney Tunes? No, no no no no, you must be mistaken, you must be talking about some kind of video they put out in the 80s or something.

On that note favorite episodes of Duck Dodgers would include Bonafide Heroes and Pig of Action.
Also like the episode with Dave Mustaine.

Dexter's Lab sucked, Powerpuff Girls was very "meh", Courage The Cowardly Dog was very mediocre too. I can't remember a single thing about Samurai Jack so I'm gonna go ahead and call it completely forgettable. Ed, Edd n' Eddy was cool though, and Cow & Chicken had its moments too.

I'm not familiar enough with the new cartoons to really judge them. I might have seen all of five episodes (in pieces) of Adventure Time, but I enjoyed what I saw, Regular Show bored me though.

Was The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Cartoon Network? I enjoyed that show.

The first season of Metalocalypse is still probably the best season of cartoons of the past decade, unless Moral Orel counts.

By the way...go watch Moral Orel! The third season was some of the absolute best TV of recent decades. The first two seasons are good too but a bit goofy, the third season was dark and absolutely brilliant.
