PC Building Simulator, Ultimate Fishing Simulator, and Plane Mechanic Simulator are now DRM-free and up to 45% off!

In PC Building Simulator (-30%), you can find out how "easy" it really is to plug a Ryzen 5 Six-Core 1600X to a Z170 Mtech motherboard, with two GeForce GTX 1060s in SLI. To celebrate the arrival of the game into the DRM-free world, Claudiu Kiss and The Irregular Corp have announced the upcoming release of special GOG-branded in-game wallpapers as well as a custom GOG/NZXT in-game case in the GOG version.

Hop on a boat with your fishing rod and a healthy amount of bait to catch some feisty sea creatures in Ultimate Fishing Simulator (-45%). Toggle between the realistic mode for a slow-paced and contemplative experience or the normal mode that will always make sure you have a marine opponent coming up soon.

Lose your mind playing around with 800 bits and pieces in Plane Mechanic Simulator (-20%), a game that will test your ability to learn quickly about the mechanic powering warplanes of the Royal Air Force.

Discounts for newly released simulator games are valid until May 31, 1 PM UTC.

DampSquib: Meh, no tank sims, disappointing.
i am hoping for some of Jane's simulations from the 90's..Apache Longbow, USAF,US Navy, etc. Yeah, they are fairly hardcore but there is nothing like taking out a bunch of Tanks with your Apache chipper...

dgnfly: Yes, I read that, But escapism doesn't mean you need to connect directly it could be the world itself that has an aspect of fantasy, you make it seem that Because you couldn't feel immersed in meat boy it isn't escapism regardless of it not being in reality. Fantasy itself is escapism as long as the game isn't based on reality it would count.

Actually, it doesn't contradict itself, The idea is that if the creator says it is what it is you wouldn't be able to change that regardless of your subjective opinion. And games itself are the hardest to look at subjectively hence why I'd rather leave it to the masses instead of a select few. '' The reality of our world is created in our brains. '' Bullshit or else everybody would live in their minds. The belief that our thoughts create our reality is as seductive as it is misleading. It would be nice if we had unlimited power to change things, but we don't have total control over life. Consciousness creates reality.

you must be smoking some weed at the moment to get that perspective of reality. If we so-called create things in nature where are the Dragons and Unicorns? Cause I could imagine they were real but that doesn't make it true.

Lodium: Actually, if the world around is realized in our brains then it also must mean can change anything as long as its based on what the brain belives is real.
If your brain belives something is real it will become real fo you.
Images, touch etc isnt more than simply electric impulses to the brain wich the brain again interpret to an object or simply trees or birds if you will. For all you know those birds migth be something completly difrent. This is based on a scientific hypothesis, not proven, dont remember the name and im too lazy too google. (Also not hard to imagine for anyone that has seen the Matrix) Im not saying that the matrix is real. Im just saying its a possibilty that our reality is something like that.

Of course real physics doesnt allow that, you still need to follow the rules of physics.
But making humans belive something is real is not that hard.

Edit : For the heck of it, i think i found something simmilar
It wasnt the excact topic i was thinking of but oh well...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis
''Actually, if the world around is realized in our brains then it also must mean can change anything as long as its based on what the brain belives is real.''

That's with nutjobs in asylum say when they see things that aren't there, Would you now define that the imaginary things those people see are real cause those are also made by the brain but aren't even in the laws of physics. And no simply cause you to see things in your imagination doesn't make them close to reality cause you need more people to see the same or else all people see different things. When I play A game I see the same things as you and I see what the creator wanted to make it doesn't change if i just wanna imagine something else.

''Of course real physics doesn't allow that, you still need to follow the rules of physics.
But making humans belive something is real is not that hard''

You made the notion that your brain makes up everything and makes it come true how will you, for instance, know a horse is a horse and not a unicorn in disguise? The universe around us created everything including us so we are following the laws nature provides us we don't make the world around us without mind we perceive the world only as it was meant to because we are conscious.

Also, this so-called hypothesis is the reason people believe in GOD but is more a desperate attempt from hitting despair.

The matric is an imagined reality which needs a computer to make sorta off real towards our perspective but in it doesn't negate the fact that it's real. Every book is a form of imagination or movie is a form of imagination even games but they are fake realities. You'd think if we could realize those realities people would stay in the shitty one we have now?

The problem with things like Janes is less about the name brand, but more about the aircraft. Lockheed, Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, and such would likely charge an arm and a leg to just have those aircraft relicenced, if they'd even think about it.

This is in fact, why Flight Simulators outside of the 30,000+ USD range are all but dead.
In all seriousness, the open hate and hostility that some here present, just because some games got released, that they personally don't like, is appaling.

Simulators of all sorts are successful on the market because lots of people enjoy playing them.

And since someone here addressed "escapism" as a necessary part of games, which these simulators allegedly don't deliver...here's a little fun fact: lots of simulators get played mostly by two main groups of people:

- the people who always dreamed of doing job "A", or activity "A", but are "trapped" IRL in job "B", or otherwise not able to do so (handicapped people exist, you know?), and
- the people who play simulators, that simulate their daily field of work.

Lots of RL-car mechanics enjoy playing "The Car Mechanic Simulator", because it allows them to tinker around with cars that they probably never see IRL.

Lots of farmers enjoy "Farming Simulator" in its seventh (!) iteration already, simply because it allows them to handle machines that they can't afford IRL.

Lots of train drivers and conductors enjoy "Train Simulator" and "Train Sim World", etc., because it allows them to drive engines and routes, that they won't ever drive IRL.

Lots of anglers enjoy the diverse fishing simulators, because it allows them (even on a small budget) to fish in waters (be it lakes, rivers or the sea) that they'll never see IRL and "catch" fish they'll never could catch at their local fishing ground.

I personally know a truck driver who enjoys - can you guess it?...exactly: "Euro Truck Simulator 2" and "American Truck Simulator" and all their expansions and DLCs, because it allows him (a truck driver working in local transit) to drive across whole Europe and the American continent (well, at least the parts of Europe and America, which the games deliver).

And that list goes on...

For all these simulator fans and players, their favourite game/genre definitely is a form of escapism. Despite the fact, that some actually work in the field that gets simulated.

For them, it's about their dreams coming true as much as it is possible, without having to change job or residence, etc.

You don't enjoy these games? Fine. Then don't play them.
But don't try to belittle them or the people who play them.

Their money and their leisure time is worth exactly as much as yours.
Coast to coast, L.A. to Chicago, Western male

Okay, that was stupid.
