realkman666: Is that legal?
Well, that most definitely depends on each game's particular EULA but especially considering how meaningless this particular checksum is and unsuitable it is for identifying individuals I don't see the slightest chance that it's not covered by it. After all, there's tons of data you often agree to share with the developer/publisher when you play their game and especially use their client like Steam or Origin. With these clients you usually agree to openly send data about your OS, drivers, hardware etc.. An outrage about this checksum (which AFAIK cannot even be used to reconstruct your exact hardware configuration) is ridiculous by comparison.

By legal, I meant laws and trade rules and stuff.

budejovice: The millions of people that hate this are the same millions of people that will fork over their $60 the very next time.

I will both never complete my backlog AND never have this problem. Weird, huh? :)
Exactly.

It's like paying $60 to climb into a vat of .. 'crap' .. , and then complain about the smell. And then do it again and again and again..

<i>step up..</i>
Excuse my language but are you fucking kidding me?! I just bought this game man! Guess I should have purchased more knowledge beforehand huh?

It does sound a bit annoying, however for someone in my shoes (size 9 btw) I don't see a problem with it. I'll be using the same beautiful beast I have for years to come... and by then, the game will be outdated and overshadowed by the next two or three Battlefields. Yeah, when I look at it like that I'm not bothered in the slightest.

Individuals (not testing companies) who have the desire to change their Pcs innards at an unhealthy frequency should really take a step back and evaluate what it is their doing with their lives. That kind of complex is a damaging one.

So, people who happen to change a piece of hardware, or buy a new computer, should accept not playing their previous games anymore ? Because ? Because if it does't happen at the exact turnung point of their loss of interest for all their previous games in means that they update hardware like maniacs so serves them right ? Anyway you personaly have a new computer so who cares ?

Pardon my judgement but isn't that completely dumb ?

Wow, nice job taking things way out of proportion. You're referring to statements I did not make, but whatever makes you feel better huh. You said it yourself, 'who cares?' yet you decide to 'care' enough to attempt rousing an argument, then you tell me to pardon your judgement...uhh, right. Good luck with that. I'm off to do something interesting, it may just be a little more interesting than reading comments from someone who means absolutely nothing to me and never will ;)

realkman666: It costs folks like you and me.
It costs you because you accept that cost, you willingly pay for that "product".
If you wouldn't then there's no cost involved ;)

leon30: ...doesn't seems like a big deal to me. How many times you thinker with your hardware in an year? And how many days are you playing BF?
it doesn't matter. it can be from once a day/week/month/year to never. that doesn't mean a shitty product can or should stop one from doing that.

snowkatt: uh ubisoft is from france
so how can they be the worst company in america ?

they have branches in the usa but the head office is located in france

wolfsrain: Fully aware. But EA and Ubi are fighting for the world title in my book.
Don't get me wrong, I think EA/Activision/UbiSoft/etc., are horrible just as much as the next gamer, but it always amuses me how it's companies like EA that win the award, beating other American companies who do things like manufacture landmines/cluster bombs, dump toxic waste, or nearly destroy the American economy.
avatar
apehater: its just shitty what ea does, but to be honest i would accept this shit. probably more than this, if its the only way to play the next arma or red orchestra title in multiplayer. but at least there are almost always solutions for singleplayer
So here's the thing: if you think it's shitty, why on earth would you accept it? It's still utterly baffling how I constantly see gamers bemoan things like DRM, limited installs, etc., yet have no problem buying the games that are afflicted by them.
Since I don't see anyone having posted the update to the story, here it is.

The tl;dr version is that you can install the game on up to 5 different computers every 24 hours.

I don't even see the point. I mean all DRM is pretty useless, but...

<golf clap>

How many times on one computer with a different video card?

5, every 24 hours, because "one computer with a different video card" = different computers, in the eyes of the installer
at least this is what I make of it

Without contacting support? Up to 5 per 24 hours.
After contacting support and explaining you are benchmarking? No idea, but quite possibly an absurd number, if not unlimited.
Still, it should not happen. As i'm building my own computer from parts and not buying a pre-made one, I expect a bit of trouble, due to this. First wave consists from CPU, RAM, Mobo, power supply, graphic card, full tower case and SSD. 6 components changed in a short time. Second wave will consist in two new high capacity SATA III HDD's (that will replace my aging HDD's, which are also a bit cramped for today's needs - 750GB and 500GB), plus a sound card, mouse, keyboard and a gamepad. That's the plan, anyway.

So, not exactly thrilled for the Hardware checks...

wolfsrain: So, not exactly thrilled for the Hardware checks...
Will you be running the game after every component change? If yes, will you be doing all the component changes during a single day? If again yes, then you will encounter problem. If you do less than 6 changes per day, you won't encounter any issues.
