EA...EA never learns. But they do want your love and money. And then they spit in your paying face.

Those are the adventures of a well-known and reputed benchmarking site:

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/ea-infects-battlefield-hardline-with-new-ghastly-drm.html

They tried to do their mission: to benchmark the game on as many graphic cards they could. That wasn't even their main mission: to benchmark the game on as many PC configurations they could.

But EA had different plans. They said no. And the poor benchmarkers went from 1 hour wait to a 24 hour wait. So they could access again their, legit and filled with games, Origin account.

The new DRM is actually the same that was used in Dragon Age: Inquisition and is supposed to protect against the people that are using cheats and hacks. Compared with the DRM in DA:I, this one is more severe. And manages to do exactly nothing in the crusade against the cheaters. The only one that are suffering are the people that don't use hacks or cheats. Paying customers. The cheaters, meanwhile, managed to find a method that allows them to practice their little fun undisturbed. Because they always live long and prosper. The stupid customer that wants to be legit will have his account blocked if he's making a major upgrade to his computer or he's changing it alltogether.

As such, my vote towards the worst company in America reverts back to EA. It's still a tie, though, as i'm torned between EA and Ubisoft.

P.S.: glad that i've waited to see how things are going with this new BF game. Saved me the money and the trouble of asking for a refund.

Fully aware. But EA and Ubi are fighting for the world title in my book.

oh world title
okay that works ;p
its just shitty what ea does, but to be honest i would accept this shit. probably more than this, if its the only way to play the next arma or red orchestra title in multiplayer. but at least there are almost always solutions for singleplayer

Thank you EA in helping to usher in 64-bit DRM as the new standard for PC gaming.

I would rather stay away. Why support that kind of practices?! Remember the dedicated servers and how the players self-moderated back in the '90's?!
If people refused to pay for Games with DRM, then maybe just maybe, DRM would be removed. The only way to hurt companies like thoses mentioned, is in the pocket.
Wolfsrain, I remember dedicated servers, they were the best. We as users had more control back then, sure we had more work to do but the payoff was much better.

I'm willing to bet this DRM has access to the Kernel. "What a novel idea! Let's snoop into people's hardware and if we see a single change (new GPU, more RAM, new HDD, etc) then it's a completely new computer! It's Spore take two only this time the DRM is 64-bit instead of 32-bit. What could possibly go wrong?"
As it turns out, reforming poop is still poop.

Went through the comments. Seems to be only access to the game that is blocked. Still, too much. The peeps from Guru claim

"Here's what EAs DRM is doing, EA don't just verify the number of PCs you work on slash use, nope .. they dare to monitor hardware changes inside your PC now, which I am sure is a privacy breach on many levels. So once we insert new hardware (CPU / mobo or graphics cards) the hardware id # hash changes and if that happens a couple of times they are rendering your activation invalid. From what we now have learned, you get to have 5 hardware changes per license. Use them up and access to the game will be blocked for 24 hours per activation. "

And this is a bit of concern, as i do have a major PC change this year. Glad that i did not buy BF4, nor Hardline
