Hi GOGers,
With the arrival of Mr. Awesome, a.k.a. Duke Nukem, we’ve prepared a selection of mods exclusively for all the GOG.com’s fans, along with some impressions of one of our Support/QA guys, Skreczi.
High Resolution Mod
Skreczi said:
HEEEEELLLLLLL YEAH! The best mod ever! It brings Duke Nukem 3D into full 3D with fully tri-dimensional monsters, weapons and items! Totally must have for everyone! Still reading it? Don’t waste more time – download it now!
Duke Plus
Skreczi said:
Full of new features (weather effects, new light effects, transparent water etc.), new gameplay elements, new weapons and much more. Also come with new levels that demonstrate capabilities of this babe :) Two thumbs up!
Hellduke TC!
Skreczi said:
Pretty cool total conversion in DooM style. There are some strange things like flying Imps and you have mini UZI instead of a pistol but this mod has some potential. Level design is not that bad, some monster still needs to be implemented but if you are a DooM fanboy you should definitely give it a try.
Naferias Reign - Invasion of The Dark Mistress
Skreczi said:
Duke Nukem with some action RPG elements. Play as Duke or other character in his team. New voice acting, more intelligent enemies, plus characters with their own special abilities and levels. Very cool and fun to play :)
Infestation in Time TC
Skreczi said:
Pretty good mod and a few new episodes taking action in the Duke Nukem universe. It has implemented some things from Duke Plus and it’s compatible with Duke Nukem High Res mod. A bit complicated but still a pretty good job.
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Skreczi said:
Very well made total conversion where you can buy additional stuff and abilities, jump into your own skycar, kick some more alien butts, use new awesome skills and level up your guns! Very fun to play!
Aliens vs. Duke
Skreczi said:
Very impressive total conversion that have everything that Alien Mod should have – weapons specific to Alienverse, atmosphere and cool model of Xenomorphs (including deadly facehugger).
Borg Nukem
Skreczi said:
Total conversion that brings Duke Nukem 3D to the Star Trek universe. It starts on Borg Cube and leads you through some mediocre design levels. To battle Borg you can use phasers, rifles and some other deadly Star Trek weaponry.

the HRP really breathes new life into this game. i still remember the maps like it was yesterday...man oh man i dumped a lot of hours into this game when it came out. thanks GOG for bringing it back!
If you have a high-end PC, search for the "polymer renderer" for DN3D, and use it with HRP. Here is a video demonstrating it, with links on the description: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MoufuUKLNo
Duke Nukem Eternity mod.
WGRealms mod (and WGRealms 2).
Blood weapons for DN3D.

Is that video really what the polymer rendering looks like when used in the game? Only if it is then I'm not sure I'd be interested. The lighting in many of the screens just seemed way too dark and the gunfire was lighting up the screen in flashes near constantly.

The video is old, from May 25, 2009.
There's probably a newer version out and now polymer is included in EDuke32 (I don't know if there's an individual update just for the polymer renderer, have to check it).

Maklak: Here's a different kind of mod.
Some fellow from here has rerecorded Duke music as it was meant to be heard in 1996. In his own words:
"This is the complete Duke Nukem 3D soundtrack as recorded from the Roland Sound Canvas (SC-55) MIDI module with which it was composed and meant to be heard in-game."
If you are using eDuke32 put the ZIP into autoload directory and it will replace the default music.
It sounds really good. Would be cool if we could get a selection from this pack as a soundtrack with the rest of goodies that are already in gog DN3D release,.

predcon: would this "fellow" happen to be Bobby Prince?
also, does the MERC TC work with the HRP?
Duke Theft Auto:

You're missing Yahtzee's mod of Duke Nukem. What's it called again?
All I know is that Yahtzee made it, so it must be good.
I cant get the HRM to work :/ i stell only have the old graphigs ;(

This site has tons of different Total Conversions released for Duke over the years, worth a look.
I managed to install eDuke32 and the High Resolution Pack but I can't see any normal maps, from the pictures it looks like the old HRP from 2004.
Edit: Just realized the Polymer textures aren't official so they're not present in the build I've downloaded. I'm downloading the Polymer Preview build and that should do the trick.

hi this may be a stupid question but i am having trouble installing the latest version of the high resolution pack. i install the first 1 linked to on this site ten as soon as i install it says there's an update which links me to a small zip file which i replace the original file with those updated files, (as thre is no other instructions) which then screws things up, the game runs but there is no high res textures. before i install the latest version though it runs fine but the old version doesnt seem to have polymer and i want to see that!
High Resolution patch looks shitty, I'm playing only with eduke32. Good to play this game after all these years.
It's too bad the High Res mod doesn't work properly for me. All the text is just white boxes =(
Hey there, this is Lord Misfit, the creator of Naferia's Reign. I noticed that the link you guys have is linked to the old website. That page is defunct as that server belongs to an old friend of mine, and I left the site on my own will about a year ot two ago and moved to a new server. The page that's there now is an old old out of date page which for some reason no longer bears the link to the real new site for NR.
http://naferia.duke4.net - is the new site [it has been for about a couple of years now], and anyone who cares to play NR or find new updates will have to go here. I wish Google would get rid of the old site as a top link, as it's not supposed to be there anymore. >.>;
