Hi GOGers,
With the arrival of Mr. Awesome, a.k.a. Duke Nukem, we’ve prepared a selection of mods exclusively for all the GOG.com’s fans, along with some impressions of one of our Support/QA guys, Skreczi.
High Resolution Mod
Skreczi said:
HEEEEELLLLLLL YEAH! The best mod ever! It brings Duke Nukem 3D into full 3D with fully tri-dimensional monsters, weapons and items! Totally must have for everyone! Still reading it? Don’t waste more time – download it now!
Duke Plus
Skreczi said:
Full of new features (weather effects, new light effects, transparent water etc.), new gameplay elements, new weapons and much more. Also come with new levels that demonstrate capabilities of this babe :) Two thumbs up!
Hellduke TC!
Skreczi said:
Pretty cool total conversion in DooM style. There are some strange things like flying Imps and you have mini UZI instead of a pistol but this mod has some potential. Level design is not that bad, some monster still needs to be implemented but if you are a DooM fanboy you should definitely give it a try.
Naferias Reign - Invasion of The Dark Mistress
Skreczi said:
Duke Nukem with some action RPG elements. Play as Duke or other character in his team. New voice acting, more intelligent enemies, plus characters with their own special abilities and levels. Very cool and fun to play :)
Infestation in Time TC
Skreczi said:
Pretty good mod and a few new episodes taking action in the Duke Nukem universe. It has implemented some things from Duke Plus and it’s compatible with Duke Nukem High Res mod. A bit complicated but still a pretty good job.
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Skreczi said:
Very well made total conversion where you can buy additional stuff and abilities, jump into your own skycar, kick some more alien butts, use new awesome skills and level up your guns! Very fun to play!
Aliens vs. Duke
Skreczi said:
Very impressive total conversion that have everything that Alien Mod should have – weapons specific to Alienverse, atmosphere and cool model of Xenomorphs (including deadly facehugger).
Borg Nukem
Skreczi said:
Total conversion that brings Duke Nukem 3D to the Star Trek universe. It starts on Borg Cube and leads you through some mediocre design levels. To battle Borg you can use phasers, rifles and some other deadly Star Trek weaponry.

kid_0k: Is there a high def pack for this game, and if so, will it work with this particular release?

... it's the first mod listed in the topic.
There's a mod called Oblivion. No it is not THAT Oblivion, it just shares the name.
Official site.

Awesome, so many people visiting Duke4.net, we love the traffic caused by this :D
I'd like to add some links to Duke4.net myself though, take is as a mirror to those linked above:

A few mods available here...
I just want to say, that if people look for more insight in upcoming, or updated mods, or just want to ask for more detailed support, you can ask on 3DR's official forums in these boards, where the mod creators (or the vast majority of them) can be found...

The High Res mod worked beautifully.
EDIT: On XP.

I got the high res mod working for about 5 minutes and then it freezes my comp to where I have to restart. Try it at your own risk on Win7.
It works fine for me. Are you using the latest HRP beta, or the old, old one from 2007?

That'd be a driver or hardware issue. Hardware access in Vista/7 is abstracted enough that nothing other than faulty hardware or a kernel mode driver bug should be able to cause a hard lock.
For what it's worth, I've been developing EDuke32 using the 7 beta since it was released with no issues, even using a mess of XP/2003 chipset drivers for hardware with no official VIsta/7 support.

It's really a pleasure to play again with Duke! Thanks GOG ;)
And all those mods look awesome.
But, I have troubles with Aliens vs Duke... I copy all the files from the archive (from the link posted here) and I have a message error indicating that a lot of .CON files are missing. And when I choose "use default .CON", it gives me a "joystickanalogsaturate 7" message...
Too bad, this mod looks great. Any help is welcome ^^

You could try to load it using the EDuke32 port. Just put a copy of the duke3d.grp file from Duke3D in a new directory. Add the files from EDuke32 and the files from AVD. There should be a file in the AVD rar with a BAT extension. (AvD.bat) Right click on it, open with notepad and change duke3d.exe to eduke32.exe, save and close. Then just left click on the BAT file you just edited.

Try these:
AvD for GOG.com Duke3D
No clue as of yet.
AvD for JFDuke
1) Unpack AvD-Rescue.rar to a new directory.
2) Copy DUKE3D.GRP to the directory.
3) Run AvD.bat and enjoy!
AvD for EDuke32
1) Install latest EDuke32 development snap.
2) Unpack AvD-Rescue.rar to a sub-directory under the EDuke32 directory (ie. "X:\eduke32_current\Aliens vs Duke\")
3) Run EDuke32 and select "Aliens vs Duke" (or whatever you named the directory) from the "Custom game content directory" drop-down menu from the launcher.
4) Have fun!
I don't think you can play with vanilla Duke, as it's using a new Duke3D.exe. Something is weird though, I have to configure all the keys before playing because none is set as default.

I never tried it in vanilla before I made the rar. It was made for JFDuke.

Must be a "feature" of JFDuke.
Ah too bad, I though AvD would work with GOG release. I'll try it with eDuke32 later then, thanks for the tips ;)
Oh, and I remember having played the PSX version with really cool exclusive maps (inspired by games and movies, such as "Bomb Rider" and a Pulp Fiction map), any chance to see these maps ported to a PC Duke? I'd love to play again with those maps, especially in coop ^^

I recall someone working on conversions, but 3D Realms condemned the project because of legal issues iirc.
Can anybody tell me how to run the Platoon TC? Thanks in advance.
Edit: I tried copying the "platomic" - folder into the eduke32 folder, but when I chose that mod, it replaces only the pistol with the m16 and opponents with vc, otherwise it is the normal duke3d...
