Hi GOGers,
With the arrival of Mr. Awesome, a.k.a. Duke Nukem, we’ve prepared a selection of mods exclusively for all the GOG.com’s fans, along with some impressions of one of our Support/QA guys, Skreczi.
High Resolution Mod
Skreczi said:
HEEEEELLLLLLL YEAH! The best mod ever! It brings Duke Nukem 3D into full 3D with fully tri-dimensional monsters, weapons and items! Totally must have for everyone! Still reading it? Don’t waste more time – download it now!
Duke Plus
Skreczi said:
Full of new features (weather effects, new light effects, transparent water etc.), new gameplay elements, new weapons and much more. Also come with new levels that demonstrate capabilities of this babe :) Two thumbs up!
Hellduke TC!
Skreczi said:
Pretty cool total conversion in DooM style. There are some strange things like flying Imps and you have mini UZI instead of a pistol but this mod has some potential. Level design is not that bad, some monster still needs to be implemented but if you are a DooM fanboy you should definitely give it a try.
Naferias Reign - Invasion of The Dark Mistress
Skreczi said:
Duke Nukem with some action RPG elements. Play as Duke or other character in his team. New voice acting, more intelligent enemies, plus characters with their own special abilities and levels. Very cool and fun to play :)
Infestation in Time TC
Skreczi said:
Pretty good mod and a few new episodes taking action in the Duke Nukem universe. It has implemented some things from Duke Plus and it’s compatible with Duke Nukem High Res mod. A bit complicated but still a pretty good job.
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Skreczi said:
Very well made total conversion where you can buy additional stuff and abilities, jump into your own skycar, kick some more alien butts, use new awesome skills and level up your guns! Very fun to play!
Aliens vs. Duke
Skreczi said:
Very impressive total conversion that have everything that Alien Mod should have – weapons specific to Alienverse, atmosphere and cool model of Xenomorphs (including deadly facehugger).
Borg Nukem
Skreczi said:
Total conversion that brings Duke Nukem 3D to the Star Trek universe. It starts on Borg Cube and leads you through some mediocre design levels. To battle Borg you can use phasers, rifles and some other deadly Star Trek weaponry.

H0neyBe4r: Edit: I tried copying the "platomic" - folder into the eduke32 folder, but when I chose that mod, it replaces only the pistol with the m16 and opponents with vc, otherwise it is the normal duke3d...

Try renaming the PLATOON.GAM to GAME.CON and the PLATOON.GRP to DUKE3D.GRP.

Daedolon: Try renaming the PLATOON.GAM to GAME.CON and the PLATOON.GRP to DUKE3D.GRP.

This technique also works for the gate and a lot of mods with the same kind of structure. Good to know :D!
Thanx @Daedolon

High Resolution Mod

They FINALLY released version 4. Here it is.
Info, FAQs, maps, add-ons, patches, both for Duke 3D and eduke:
http://archive.dukertcm.com/
Here's a different kind of mod.
Some fellow from here has rerecorded Duke music as it was meant to be heard in 1996. In his own words:
"This is the complete Duke Nukem 3D soundtrack as recorded from the Roland Sound Canvas (SC-55) MIDI module with which it was composed and meant to be heard in-game."
If you are using eDuke32 put the ZIP into autoload directory and it will replace the default music.
It sounds really good. Would be cool if we could get a selection from this pack as a soundtrack with the rest of goodies that are already in gog DN3D release,.
I'm getting this error when trying to boot up and use the high res pack:
"Error(s) found in file 'EDUKE.CON'. Do you want to use the INTERNAL DEFAULTS?"
I say yes and then get:
"'duke3d.grp' missing CON files, reinstall Duke Nukem 3D."
I can't figure it out....
EDIT: Wow, I'm an idiot. I just figured it out.

With the recent release of Duke3d on gog.com and the renewed interest from mods such as EDuke32 and the HRP, I decided to re-release both of the Duke3d mods I helped create back in the late 90's. MERC: Fatal Reality was originally released in 1997, and the sequel, MERC 2, was released in late 1998.

I created a zip file containing both mods along with quick launchers you can use with EDuke32.

Download it here:

For more info refer to the readme file.

If you end up playing let me know what you think! Keep in mind I was about 15 when I started creating those mods.. :) Have fun

Here's a cool new eye-candy feature I found.
Video=Duke Plus using the Polymer renderer
Snaps=Gallery
it's still in development and I say it's looking pretty damn good
I'm lucky enough to own both Caribbean and Nuclear Winter. I liked them then, and I'm glad I can play them again now!
To play them, after some persuading with their install files I simply went into dosboxduke3d.conf and changed "duke3d.exe" to "carib.exe". Worked like a charm!

would this "fellow" happen to be Bobby Prince?
also, does the MERC TC work with the HRP?
How the heck do I install the HRP so I can play Duke in 3D? I can't figure it our at all...
Is it me, or are some of the textures shown in the screenshots on GOGs spotlight a bit blurry? Particular note is that of the palm trees on the Duke Plus screenshots, but it is present in many of them, on walls, floors, telephones, magazines, even blood splatter. Does the HRP make some textures blurry or something?
