Milestone achieved! Free Broken Sword for everyone!

Thank you everyone who helped us achieve the 6 million unique game downloads! You're the greatest, and here's a free Broken Sword for you!

Last week, during CD Projekt Fall 2011 Conference, we've launched a counter on the main page which indicated the number of unique games downloaded at GOG.com. Today that counter hit 6 million unique game downloads, and to celebrate this fact and to thank all of you at GOG.com, together with Revolution Software, we're lowering the price for first part of the acclaimed Broken Sword series to “free"! In order to receive the free copy of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars free, go to the gamecard and click on “download now”, at which point the game will be added to your game shelf.

The special offer for Broken Sword is valid until October 1, at 7:59 a.m. EDT (11:59 a.m. GMT), so be sure to grab it by then and don’t forget to share the news with all your friends!!!

UPDATE: In addition, we mentioned that the user who will make the 6 millionth download will receive the whole GOG.com catalogue for free! It was not a prank and the user who should start "wrestling" with his virtual shelf full of awesome classics is Dotur who downloaded Icewind Dale 2 exactly on 2011-09-29 at 07:39:43 EDT. Congratulations! We'll send you the gift certificate with all the games from the catalogue.

RailedRobin: Too bad I've been busy and completely missed this.
Damn you, studies!

hercufles: too bad it is a fun point and click
Well, now the trilogy is 50 percent off, so that might be a reason to get them all.

I meant RailedRobin, obviously. ;-)

So everybody gets a free copy of a game that most people have....*shrugs.
295
I almost bought these sequels when GOG had the discount. The problem was I never got my hands on the free first part either, heh.
296
Yes! I am so glad I got it for free... I love the game and got BS 2 and others! GOG.com rocks!
297
I'm glad I snagged BS1 when it was free. I thought they'd be offering it free forever in honor of the milestone.
298
Cool! Try this game out now... if i have time.

Too bad I did download it when it was free but never installled it. Opened the installer today and "You don't have access to this game!" took it away :C

Wut? Installers are standalone, they don't need any kind of activation to run. Download the installer again, maybe first one is corrupted or something.

Did you open the installer or the downloader? There was a big mess with people getting "too many copies" (think 15 copies of Broken Sword on your shelf) of it and then another mess of too zealous removal. You might have fallen victim to the too zealous removal bit, and that might make the downloader say you don't have access to it. The installer (located in whichever folder you or the downloader put it in) shouldn't do anything like that (since it's an offline thing).

If you downloaded/bought it back when it was free and don't have it anymore, contact support about it and explain what has happened.

@everyone's reply

I thought you had to install the games through the downloader, so I though it was bascially the same thing (and a goner). I checked now and yes the exe is on my hd and I was able to install it :D Thanks guys! I didn't expect anyone to say anything actually. The game doesn't show on my digital shelf on the site, but is that a big deal?

Obrigada pela resposta em portugues Namur :>

They need to be redeemed. I have broken and seems fine (again) It's just that in the self it leaves some space empty, then there it is. If you never played, it's awesome, if you have played it 5 times, you almost hope that it would be Bloodrayne.. the first, wasn't bad. I liked it. =)
2 kind of ways to download, some net thing sometimes in parts and that gogloader. I use last one, never had too much trouble, some games are another thing when they are installed.

If for whatever reason you ever need to download the game files in the future you won't be able to if the game is not showing up on your shelf, so yeah, i'd shoot a quick mail to support.

I wonder what the total value of Dotur's prize is? I'm too lazy to do the math. Does he get future releases free too?
