I bought this expansion on sale after thoroughly enjoy Mechanicus, but even for the sale price, this is not worth it at all.
There is no new campaign, there are some new missions and battle maps and one new skill tree. In total this amounts to roughly 15 % of extra content to the original game. This should have been an update, not an expansion!
Just to give you the idea - the entire expansion is an exe file of 6 mb.
This DLC is locked behind internet activation. Don't bother buying if you do not want to use GoG Galaxy.
Otherwise, as per GoG critique guidelines, I rate purely on content and it is great.
The new maps and missions on the Caestius(sp?) Metalicus add some much required difficulty. The new gear greatly improve on the somewhat bland arsenal and I welcome the new Xenarite skill pool. The new armor on the other hand still seems to follow the same extremely restrictive guidelines that I can not fathom.
The new class is inherently a risk\reward archetype where you gamble health for damage; but you aren't given a lot of damage for your risk. It does however add one of the best skills in the game at level 1 which is quite weird.
The campaign is fun, but the price is too high and the content could use some more thought put into it.
Ok so I had heard that the atmosphere in this game was great but until you put some headphones on and hear it for yourself you will not understand.
A++ in the sound department and the OST is amazing and I've been listening to it while writing for my D&D campaign. Unf unf, it's fantastic.
Graphics aren't bad but that DOF is annoying. Thankfully it's got great art direction like many higher quality 40k games do.
Overall if you like turn based strategy and 40k, pick this up you likely won't regret it!
