A game I wanted to love
Tried it 5 times in total I think, but I never found a will to finish it. 1. Gameplay 2/10 Combat can't decide if it wants to be action based or tactic based. It's pseudo tab targeted that requires rhythm based clicking to create combos. It's constant, unfun repetition. Movement is janky, not especially responsive and you are always glued to the ground. Traversal is strictly limited to playable fields. UI is stylized, but not especially clear. Overly limited inventory forces you into annoying micro management which drowns fun factor. 2. Visuals 4/10 Fidelity: In this regard this title is serviceable and kinda amazing when you consider it's the same engine that Neverwinter Nights used. Art Direction: Sadly it lacks any distinct visual language and you will see the same npc character models way too many times. Animation: is rather limited and camera close ups during conversations make it quite apparent. 3. Sound 5/10 Music: stylish, but overly melancholic for me. Limited in number, constantly looping tracks make it worse. Voice work: For polish version it's excellent actually. Effects: Combat sounds are repetitive to an annoying degree. Outside of fights it's rather meh. Environment: It never made me pay any attention to it. 4. Story 3/10 Plot: importance of choices within it is quite admirable. The issue comes from how slow and unfocused it ends up being. This is why I never finished the game. It's simply uninteresting. Writing: decent in dialogues, otherwise melancholic and sadly haphazard way of delivering a story. OVERALL: Some niche might find it enjoyable. For me it's tiring. It failed at gameplay and story, two key factors for crpg. My impressions never got better even though I gave it more than fair shake.
