Embarrassing dialogue that oscillates between techno babble (hormones, mutagens) and modern tough guy talk. NPC animations are bad to nonexistent (sliding NPCs). Even more embarrassing fantasy porn cards. And skill doesn't even come into swordplay. NWN 2 did all this better.

I had a lot of technical issues with it, like it crashing frequently. Make sure to save frequently if you play! I might have encountered a lot of issues but I've yet to encounter an issue that couldn't be resolved by restarting the game. It's no excuse but it is worth keeping in mind if you want to play it anyway. The gameplay and mechanics and interface and so on are awful in just about every regard. I think if you're a fan of MMOs you might not mind the simplistic, repetitive combat system or the repetitive quests or what have you, or perhaps if you're a more casual gamer who is more interested in enjoying the story than enjoying it as a game. (Which is perfectly okay! I don't mean to disparage that kind of gamer whatsoever. But if you're here for gameplay, you're looking at the wrong game.) There are definitely some aspects that I can't really understand anyone enjoying, however; the game is quite clunky in many areas. Some other reviews I've read put it down to it being an old, outdated game, but I disagree; badly designed elements were ultimately always badly designed. Plenty of other games in all genres from the same time hold up much better. The writing isn't great, and I'm in particular not a fan of how the women are portrayed. (And collecting baseball cards of women you sleep with is juvenile at best). I did, however, appreciate the weight given to the player's choices, and its morality not being black and white. I also disliked the voice acting throughout, but I feel that's as much down to the voice actors as it is the lines they had to work with. I really wanted to enjoy this but unfortunately, I felt it was rather overrated and couldn't understand its popularity. I look forward to trying the next two, despite my experience with this (I was gifted them all a while back).

It just not working on Windows 10. I tried every patch, tips, tricks or compatibility mods i found on the internet to make it work and it won't. Sadly it is a waste of money for me, i really wanted to play this game before playing The Witcher 2 and 3.

... unless you want to complete the series. - the story is ok, enjoyable; same with some secondary quests; - audio and video are kinda dated but still enjoyable. Can be slightly improved with mods and ENB; - the gameplay is ok, except the combat. The combat in this game is bad, like garbage bad. This will be the turn off for many people.
