A very good remaster but I give only 4 stars instead of 5 because the high quality German dubbing is missing. Let's hope for an update ...

All time classic.
For a solid 10 years this was in my top 5. This was in the early 2000s. It's still a great game and I've really enjoyed revisiting the Von Braun, even after all this time.

So far so good!
First off, a disclaimer: Thanks to Nightdive for staying true to their word, in providing me with a free copy, because I pre-ordered the System Shock remake. It's not often I pre-order something, and I'd say this was worth it. Now; I've only played up to Med/Sci so far (2-3 hours), but it's everything I was expecting it to be. A proper remaster in all sense of that word. I honestly got teary-eyed in the tutorial/prologue! Faithful to the original, a shiny coat of paint on practically everything, graphical upgrades, ultrawide support out of the gate. They made new animations for equipping and reloading weapons. Seemingly all of the UI elements - particularly the MFD - got a texture overhaul or remake. They remade some 2D textures into 3D assets, which they didn't have to, but it just makes the remaster pop a bit more. The audio has been remastered slightly, especially the music tracks (they were very loud in the original master). The only thing I don't like so far is that the navigation marker mechanic is either broken or reprogrammed. You cannot place more than one marker, which defeats the purpose of using them or being able to name them. This is actually one of my favourite UI/UX systems of all time in my gaming experience, and it's relatively important here simply because it existed as far back as 1994, in the original System Shock. I will update as I keep playing. I highly recommend this remaster to those who haven't (or won't) play the original, if only to get a modernised taste of one of the most important and influential video games of all time.
