Take the helm of your customised steamship and set sail for the unknown! Sunless Sea is a 2D game of discovery, survival and loneliness set in the award-winning Victorian Gothic universe of Fallen London. Will you succumb to madness and cannibalism on the black waters? Or return home triumphant with a hold full of precious loot?
Events can turn out differently every game - sometimes, even if you make the same choices. Will you lose your sweetheart to a curse? Redeem, betray or consume the Genial Magician? Sell your soul to the Wistful Deviless or spurn her advances? Is the Dawn Machine your salvation, or your doom?
You are the captain. It’s your call.
Light and dark. Stray too far from the gas-lamps of civilisation and your crew will grow fearful and eventually lose their sanity. But there is treasure out there in the darkness…
Upgrade your steamship with powerful engines, flensing cannons, and pneumatic torpedo guns. Or just buy a bigger, better ship.
Hire unique officers like the Haunted Doctor and the Irrepressible Cannoneer. Each has a story to tell, if you can draw it out of them.
Choose from a menagerie of ship’s mascots: the Comatose Ferret, the Wretched Mog, the Elegiac Cockatoo, and more!
Trade silk and souls, mushroom wine, and hallucinogenic honey.

I'd be anoyed i spent money on the game if i didnt get it for free, games unplayable, constantly crashes on start up with no error codes(first two opening sequences start than it hangs and goes to the sunless sea exe has stopped working.) ,looks like a fun game but cant try it to see. Avoid it if ya have win 10
Ok, this will be my first review here. The abundance of mixed reviews prompted me to write my own.
After 60+ hours, I feel like I'm able to formulate an opinion:
This game is definitely not for everyone, do not expect clean, polished and balanced gameplay, that's not what the game is about
But it is about the poetry of old board games, text quests if you like, dressed in a graphical shell.
And as soon as this understanding comes, the game changes!
This is a truly unique phenomenon, extremely complex, hardcore by the standards of modern gaming - yes, but immensely fascinating with its deep setting and thoughtful narrative.
And it is the pleasure of the great narrative piece that forms this cozy and unique aura.
Can you recommend it to the general public? Definitely not.
But if you are a connoisseur of good text adventures, board games and old style quest games, then Sunless sea will bring you a lot of the most vivid impressions.
A unique experience overall.
Sunless sea is a hidden gem. Hidden in the sense of something marvelous waiting to be discovered by the patient and knowledgeable player. On first encounter it may seem bizarre or lacking in gameplay. ON THE ABSOLUTE CONTRARY, if you just let yourself follow the wonderfully woven scenario, you will soon find yourself amazed by the excellent narrative, the unique storytelling, the amazing soundtrack. the stunningly designed graphics and the surprising way things come about as you struggle to survive in the dark, horrifying but beautifully crafted world of the Unterzee. Indeed, your first captain WILL die -probably sooner than later. But it is exactly at that very moment, you get to realize exactly what the game is all about: becoming wiser, stronger, more decisive or even brutal enough to keep exploring, against all odds, with your officers and terrified sailors by your side or ...not!
All in all, a masterpiece.
This game is everything the trailer promeses. Great atmosphere, terror and death abound.
The mechanics are a bi hard to understand at first but you get around it
