You play Sanjuro Makabe, a Mobile Combat Armor (MCA) pilot and Commander in the UCA Security Force. The UCA was originally formed by three dominant megacorporations (Andra Biomechanics, Armacham Technology Corporation, and Shogo Industries). Originally intended as a joint venture that would ensure the continued profitability of the three organizations that founded it, the UCA is now independent, and the dominant military power in existence.
Your mission is to locate and assassinate a rebel leader known only as Gabriel. All of the action takes place either on the planet Cronus or on the spaceship Leviathan. The Leviathan is the flagship of the UCA and is commanded by Admiral Akkaraju. Cronus is the only known source of the biologically active material known as Kato, an incredibly powerful energy source essential to the process by which interstellar travel is possible.
Your deadly enemy is The Fallen, a fanatical terrorist group lead by the mysterious Gabriel, threatens the balance of power on Cronus, and ultimately, control of Kato. You will fight them on your feet or from within one of the different types of Mobile Combat Armor, a giant mech which can run, duck, strafe, swim or transform into an ultrafast hovertank.
You will know the true power of giant robots!
Anime-influenced graphics and gameplay design
Fight on foot or pilot a giant mech in both open and urban environments
An interesting storyline with two possible endings
This game is awesome. There was nothing else like that, when this game was released. It had a story, you could pilot a Mech it had ridiculous weapons and a fair challenge in one package. Though it has dated graphics its still fun.
This was the most ridiculous fun I ever had in a computer game.
Story was crazy, blowing up everything in a Mech was insane and everything about it was great!
So glad I've got this again as my original version wouldn't work on my new laptop!
When this came out, I had received it with either my Voodoo3 2000 or GeForce 2 GTS video card. I figured it, much like most bundled games, was a substandard, barely playable game. In actuality, I found that the game itself was pretty decent and memorable. The game engine was very smooth and the graphics were quite polished for that time. The game story and execution of it was pretty nice. I liked how you went from pilot to the mech throughout the game. This isn't a Final Fantasy-level of story but enjoyable enough to keep you paying attention to the game. Also, when you start the game, try to knife your boss. They planned for quite a bit.
The audio and all is tied to the framerate, the game does not offer a framerate limiter, so expect character cutting each other's dialogues, crazy fast enemies and all around chaos, is technically playable, but is horrendous, no fullscreen either so get comfortable with the shogo title bar.
I tried the AMD software to limit my FPS to not avail. Sure, I could go out of my way to try and solve this with some third party software or something, but is not worth it.
