Great turn-based RPG for a newbie

I have never really being able to get into isometric RPGs, but I found this game awesome. The graphics are crisp and well drawn (runs great on my nVidia GTX 950m); the turn-based combat is easy to wrap you head around; the dialog is well written, with big fonts (no need to squint, a big plus for me), interesting faces of the parties you talk to, and humor put in for good measure. Finally, despite what some reviews mention on the web, I am guessing the game has been updated and you can save (or quick save) at any point in the game (except when in a conversation). All in all, definitely worth the 3.39 euros I spent on purchasing it. Thank you GOG!

It gets an 8/10 from me. It was reaching for 9/10, but all the problems with bugs and certain flaws stomped it down a bit, making it just barely retain an 8/10. Is it worth the full price of $15? Only yes if you plan on downloading and playing a bunch of user-created storylines. The base game is too short to justify $15 however, being barely longer than the bare-bones campaigns findable in many AAA first person shooters these days. I definitely recommend buying this if you like strategy or experiencing new and unique settings, but buy it on sale unless you definitely plan on playing every single mod you can.

Tedious game on rails

That's right, so linear that this game just gets dull and repetitive. A little narrative, another battle. Rinse and repeat. The battles aren't even interesting either, with poor mechanics and animation. I genuinely don't think I have particularly high expectations. I tend to be more forgiving with a game produced by an indy developer, compared to AAA titles, but this game in no way deserves the hype or high ratings here. I can only assume that some people have VERY low expectations and are VERY easy to please. If you're looking for a good RPG experience, I would honestly say there's lots of far superior games than this on GoG. Very limited character creation and inventory management. Next to zero challenge based on whatever class you choose. I haven't tried any of the sequels yet, but after playing Shadowrun Returns, it's highly likely I will if they're just more of the same.

Not really an RPG - and i love it

If you expect a fully grown RPG here you will be disappointed. I went into this knowing nothing about older titles. And it was a pleasant surprise. The game plays more like an isometric Point&Click combined with tactical battles. These battles are - judging from my single playthrough - sufficiently challenging and they allow for different approaches. There is no open world to speak of. Sometimes you will be free to kinda roam the streets. Most of the time you will be teleported and dropped into a level. It's all very linear - and i am totally fine with that. The game stands its ground with storytelling. And THAT was what drew me in. The whole setting is ever so slightly different, the tone is sincere, and i never came to the point where i didn't want to read. Overall there is not a single element that totally stood out and left me in awe, but it is overall competent, mature writing and world building and i would actually consider reading a book set in this world. Relatively short and sweet.

Strong reboot

Like a good number of other gamers, I got this game through Steam. While the initial story campaign is relatively short and linear, it is an entertaining experience. It has some very neat dialogues, although you don't hear the characters speak, and the combat elements are quite challenging, depending on your character build, and the game difficulty.
