A fast-paced romp
I enjoyed playing this so much on Game Pass that I bought it here on GOG. For someone who literally gets lost in games, I enjoy how good this game is at telling me exactly where to go, and allowing me to teleport home as soon as I am done with what I am doing. Shooting feels great and it's fun to wield so many different weapons. Story is pretty whatever but at its core the game itself is a lot of fun.

Borderlands: Shadow Warrior
While the first game was a bit meh, just a straight 17 level long FPS with Serious Sam elements, the sequel is like Borderlands, in every positive meaning. This is a very good game, I can hardly believe the amount of progress the developers took from the first to the second. Oh, and it's 4 player co-op on demand.

Very good action, but flawed endgame
Graphics, action, movement, gunplay and sounds are excellent. The way the endgame and the item drops (and sorting) not so much. And there are still a few stability bugs around (related to sound subsystem and the tile randomization procedure). Could have wiped Borderlands2 off the map if more thought went to its endgame design, because it was obvious SW2 was meant as its competitor when it came out.

Hilarious Hack'n'Slash
Be prepared that aside from the common backstory SW2 is very different to SW 2013. While FWH's first take on SW had an interesting story SW2 is pure visceral fun. Some may lament this development but hey why not try something new ? The game world is beautiful and detailled. Especially the Zilla City levels give every cyberpunk shooter a run for the money. No wonder as FWH's Hard Reset showed they know a thing or two in how to make this kind of game. SW2 is no game which will keep you interested for hours on end because you want to unveil the story. But if you want some pure mindless fun in slicing and dicing your opponents then this game is warmly recommended and I didn't play DOOM for the story either. The game was well optimized at release which is a rare thing these days and runs in 4k on ultra in 40-45 fps with my R9 390X. Especially worth mentioning is the elaborate screenshot functionality where you can switch off the HUD and work on the final image like in an image processing software. I've never seen this done before.

Very good game with some flaws
Overall very good. PRO: + enjoyable characters and dialogues +++ fighting is a lot of fun + movement is great + many weapons that feel different CONTRA: - weapon upgrade system not quite my taste. You find tons of jewels but they are usually pretty boring and you have to update your jewels all the time which is not fun. -- Difficulty setting not well balanced. On HARD enemys are basically bullet sponges and you kite them around the level until you run out of ammo. On NORMAL it is too easy and you rarely die at all even if you dont pay attention. - No real penalty on death. Especially annoying on boss fights where you can just respawn and respawn und gradually wear down the boss if you want
