Great game...
.. with constant patches that added more content and balance since release . This game is excellent. It adds a very nice dynamic of starting with the ship to ship battle, that basically decides starting hp and buffs and then the game switches to the pirate vs everyone else battles, on the ship/fortress. The battles rely heavily on positioning, since almost every attack moves your opponent. So pushing is a big part of the combat. The campaign itself is done in a rogue-lite fashion. You fight until you lose and then upgrade your ship/crew with the exp and money your left with (more of you win obviously). The game has amazing variety in the amount of abilities and enemies you face and also the dangers you find on every ship (depending on the enemy type you have guns /puddles of fire /tar/poison, ropes to swing you into position etc.). The only cons the game has imo are: the voice acting (it's pretty amateur ish and cringe at times) and the animations (which are floaty and don't connect properly sometimes). For the price, I highly recommend it if you love tbs and pirates, especially if you're maybe newer to these types of games, since the game has nice difficulty options to help you out and the game doesn't require a lot of time investment (the battles go by pretty fast and keep you engaged quite well). Fyi I have it on steam and have about 20-30h playtime so far. Cheers!
