A great work in progress!

The main loop is pretty fun! I also really enjoy the mechanic of quasimorphosis where the "veil" of reality gets weaker throughout the level and more demons break in. The setting is also 10/10, ancap dystopia is delightfully tongue-in-cheek. There are some needs for balancing for things like the player economy and certain mechanics (Fire, oh god. Fire.) -but the dev is constantly updating it and each change I've seen has been positive Case and point: I wanted a more "medium-level" area to do missions in and lo-and-behold a new mission hub fitting that description was added the day I thought of that complaint! It's brutal, it's fun, it's single-player x-com Doom, give it a try! The EA is more than fun enough for a few dozen hours, Once it's finished I can see this lasting me hundreds.

Already Great

While an early access title, the devs listen to feedback, have a roadmap of updates throughout the next year already planned. A turn based game that features extraction based mechanics set in a demonic scifi apocalypse in our solar system. Pretty awesome. Game can feel absolutely easy if you are a patient player who doesn't rush into every fight and plays on the backfoot slightly (don't get too defensive of course). Most of my deaths are from being impatient, overconfident, or insanely bad luck. Which I'm 100% fine with all of those. Extraction games need the threat of losing your gear to have any meaningful drama in them. If you always extract, you will be too far ahead even if you're making horrible decisions in strategies. The future updates planned seem great and I hope they are as good as the game already is. One of my favorite new games in the past few years.

Most Fun I Have Had Being Masochistic!!

I love Quasimorph. It is unforgiving, brutal, and you WILL die a lot. But, when you survive - There is nothing like it. You are thrust into a grim-dark sci fi universe where the galaxy is owned and sold by big corporations who have no value for human life, let alone the lives of clones (which you yourself will be utilizing to complete missions.) As if this wasn't dark enough of an existence; there are also demons from another dimension who are busting through the fabric of reality to gain a foothold in our universe. The game is absolutely unforgiving, but if you can learn its nuances and know how to utilize the battlefield around you, and your limited supplies - you can thrive in this horrific universe. And trust me - to get to that point, you will sacrifice the lives of countless clones. In this game, if you die - you lose everything you brought with you, and everything you found. But if you survive, and escape - You keep everything!! Learn when to stay and when to cut things short and get outta' dodge. You lead a PMC (Private Military Company) called MAGNUM. You have a ship, and a cloning bay to clone soldiers to send on missions. The galaxy has a lot of big companies you can do business with - you can even work for and help the demons! There is so much to this game, and it is only getting better over time. I HIGHLY recommend Quasimorph - even though it drives me crazy, and haunts my dreams - I can't help myself.

Grimdark CQC roguelike

Quasimorph is a turn based grimdark breach-and-enter dungeon crawler roguelike with a reputation for difficulty. The setting is grimdark and the game reflects that. This is a game where you choose between using an inventory slot for food, or using that slot for more weapons so you can eat the corpses of the people kill. This is a setting where people sometimes get a minor injury, and this causes a hallucinatory demon to materialize within them which MAKES THEIR BODY EXPLODE, and that is probably only in the top 3 worst problems humanity is dealing with. Imagine. Just imagine living in this universe. The game is also known for being hard. In that discussion, my argument is that while the perceived difficulty is high, the game is about calculated gambling and mitigating risk. The game becomes easier once you learn all the tricks and mechanics. Every mission is a marathon. The AI mostly plays by the same rules as you, but they significantly outnumber you. And a single untreated ailment or status effect can end your run. So a single wound at early in the mission will still kill you if left untreated. Avoid fair exchanges. You can ignore the odds, blundering into every room with clown shoes and a roaring machinegun. The only thing you gain is that the game gets harder, but you should do as you please. In summary, while there are times when the game boils down to a diceroll, I think the gameplay, graphics, sound design and UI do an admirable job creating an atmosphere to contextualize that diceroll and make it interesting. With that in mind, I really enjoyed Quasimorph and cautiously recommend it to others.

worth every 37.18 Belgian Franc spent

It took me 190 ingame hours to learn there was a "skip turn" button, as I have the competence level of a journalist at IGN. Nonetheless, this is a fantastic game.
