Q3A is the best battle arena game.

Back in the 90s popular music had Blur vs Oasis and FPS games had Quake3 Arena vs Unreal Tournament. Honestly my brother prefered UT, but I just feel Q3A is better, though I accept that both are very good, high intensity, battle arena shooter games. Now, while UT had the greater content, I always prefered the level design in Q3A and for me, the Plasma rifle is still the best version I have been blessed to play. I prefer the Q3A Plasma rifle even more than the one in Doom Eternal and that is saying something! For comparison, I play UT a few times per year, but I still play Q3A every month and I will continue to do so for many years to come because the game play loop is so delightful. Highly recommended. Far better than the steam version.

Runs perfect, plays just like it did back in the day. Frantic arena shooter action at it's finest. You owe it to yourself to own this one. Vastly superior to the steam version because it will actually run on Windows 7,8, 8.1, and probably 10. You can also run it in any resolution with a fix I found on the GOG forums here: https://www.gog.com/forum/quake_series/quake_3_arena_hd_resolution_texture_pack_small_fixes_links_inside Buy it if you love fast paced, old school arena shooter action. A little pricey at $20 dollars maybe, but remember you can copy this game as you please & give it to all your friends if you'd like.

Best competitive online FPS

Amazingly fast, immersive atmosphere, challenging online experience. Still played today, I loved it since I first bought it in 1999. The maps are awesome, I love the gothic atmosphere I can feel in some of those. It is a bit expensive (14.99€ now).

Simply The Best

Having played Q3A on and off for some 20+yrs I can say that the game is both simplistic but also incredibly hard to master and Thats from someone that used to play at top tier levels (32nd core - CTF clanbase gold cup Div 1 Winners) Gameplay wise Its perfect , Smooth to Play at 125 fps (for a slight edge) intuitive weapon Switching , Customisable FOV , FPS limit , BrightBits .. Ive played so many Games over the years (since Pong) but nothing comes close to the rush u get from this game especially at competition level .. ID Softwares Multiplayer Master Piece

PURE COCAINE FPS

I love that game. I love that game. Did I mention that I love that game? (: It's simple. It's fast. It's gory. It's raw. It's instinctual. It sounds great — just listen to the beautiful sounds of the rockets comin' right at you (and hopefully miss you!). It's pretty (yes, even in 2018). Unlike many modern shooters and/or action games, it requires actual skill (cheers to all the bunny-hoppers out there). It's awesome. It's crazy. I don't care if you're a Doom fanboy — this is the defition of the FPS genre for me! Counter-Strike is another story (it's team-oriented FPS). You will be railed. You will be gunned. You will be melted. You will be humiliated. WELCOME TO THE ARENA! FIGHT!
