Great game. Please don't miss on this.

I've been really impressed by the quality and love they put in this: Everything is complete, well crafted, detailed, complex and in the end, admirable. (unlike some other modern RTWP RPGs) The combat is serviceable but clunky on par with Baldur's Gate 2 and other RTWP RPGs. The game is REALLY long (hundreds of hours) yet the plot stays interesting until the end! Your choices REALLY matter throughout the whole adventure and you will be impressed at how much the game really has something to say on every little thing you did. Characters are not annoying or too dramatic and yet well developed. They make your party really look like a party of heroes on their path to solve everything. I never encountered ANY bug whatsoever despite the claims in the other reviews. Maybe the game was already patched enough to be bug free by the time i played it The only annoying things I can think of are "too many trash encounters" and "buffing your party takes too much time" But if those are the only bad parts i can think of after like 200 hours, it means this game is worthy to be considered one of the very best RPGs on the modern market.

Somehow buggier than 1.0 Skyrim.

This is one of those games where you need to have the equivalent of the debug console modded in for it to be playable without running into something that breaks a quest or the save itself every 10 to 30 minutes. You've got the classic plethora of bugs: broken quests and script triggers, busted dialogue trees, quests that fail because you've killed something too quickly, unintentional item interactions, enemies being able to dispel permanent character buffs, and so on. The incident that got me to write this review was near the end of the game: following a cutscene, an enemy attacked my tank and got feared... and then ran into four separate cutscenes in a row, and once they all resolved the screen was permanently black and the game eventually crashed to desktop. This was all before I even got to move, so yeah I wouldn't call it particularly endearing. This isn't to mention any of the genuinely controversial features like 'kingdom management' (which has it's own suite of bugs) which is another topic entirely. Solely on the basis of how many bugs there are and severe they are, you'll be begging the game to be over.

So much potential

Please stop having encounters happen so often at camp while my half dead party is trying to sleep. In fact, review all your encounter designs.

Go to the throne room

liked * Gaming the system. * Large, complex game, takes ages to finish. * Complex character building. * The fx artwork (fire, magic, particles, etc.). * Epilogue revealing consequences of your decisions. * Replay value (as a different class or alignment). * Deadline pressure. * One particularly touching moment in the story, though it was probably not intentional. * That it was made at all. disliked * You have to be seriously unemployed to get the most out of this game. * Sluggish: movement, combat, animations, ui interaction... all slow & laggy. * Some areas felt unfinished towards the end. * Inconsistent writing, varied from juvenile to razor-sharp. * The finale was a bit underwhelming & tedious, given how long it takes to get there. * The dated style; early MMO stodge. * Generic-fantasy-game music, though some of the tavern music was interesting. * Pretty juvenile stereotyping and portrayal of companions, lacks insight. EG: Amiri, with the bikini outfit, anime sword and armored shoulder... just stupid. * Camp Tolkienesque setting. * Uninteresting 'kill the monsters' challenges. * Government nagging you to return every time you leave its borders. * Most attacks are the same speed regardless of weapon. * Calculations ('rolls') are way too random, this wastes real-world time spamming save/reload. * Magus micromanagement. * Moral-alignment system is contrived and inconsistent, sometimes modern, sometimes primitive. * General lack of in-situ info on exactly how numbers are calculated. * Certain classes/combos are demonstrably superior to others, leading to a limited choice of 'viable' options, especially for the late game, where certain builds will be fine while everyone else will constantly require greater-restoration.
