Decent game for the most part. Unfortunatley the game developers seem to love RNG and build their encounters around it... There is way to many "save or die" mechanics in encounters and squishy characters tend to get one shot by pretty much any AoE. This makes the early game extremely unforgiving and fights are more about saving and reloading than about strategic decisions. The target selecion of the game is also fairly buggy and causes a lot of frustration as characters tend to ignore your orders every once in a while.
So my only problem with this game is time for 2 reasons.
The first is that I want to play this game more and I don’t have the time. I find myself trying to think of other places to go when I’m not playing. So I’m getting really into the game. Which is a good thing and speaks a lot for me trying to beat the game. So the reason I’m bringing that up is because the game has my attention and keeps me coming back for more
The second time issue is that I’m not liking the time limit on getting through the main part. On an rpg like this I want to spend time at the beginning of the game exploring, but I’m feeling like I’m being rushed to get through the main quest. And I also don’t feel like I should even do the side quests because everyone gets hungry and wants to eat all the time as you travel. So that wastes more time that I feel like I need to spend on the main quest.
For CRPG vets has everything one could want. This will be one of those games I will dust off years down the road and replay as I tend to do with Neverwinter Nights II and Baldurs Gate series. Story is good, companions are well written believable, combat is what one would expect the character building options surpass even Neverwinter II leading to some comically powerful builds, that's a huge plus for me few RPGs let you truly create something unique and powerful. I even enjoyed the kingdom building aspect after a little warming up to the idea.
Bugs and more bugs... This is a simple CRPG. Why does she consume so many resources?! Is there a crypto miner inside? (sarcasm) There are no bonus add-ons for Linux (Imperial Edition, yeah!) and now all text in game has disappeared after the update. Oh god, this program does not work.
I've been playing this game for month and I just clocked 250hrs. It was tough at first with the crashing and failures to run, but the support at GOG (not owlcat), helped me out, and this game now runs like a charm. (I hope I didn't jinx it)
There're some parts of the ending that I didn't like as I thought I could have done something, but overall the story was great and it's more or less the same one as the pathfinder pdf modules I have, minus the companions (who of course, would be your fellow pathfinder players)
This review might be slightly baised as I love Paizo's Pathfinder and I enjoyed the game; so I can overlook how a damn update last year made this unplayable. But talk to the support team, some of them really know their stuff.
