This game looks fun, but it has such random difficulty spikes that makes it completely unplayable to me. I don'k know if this is a faithful recreation of the table top game or if the developers failed to adapt it to computer, or if it was done on purpose. In one case, I think I will never come close to Pathfinder roleplaying game and stick with Dungeons & Dragons; in the other, well, then this game simply is not for me.
This is the game I've been looking for. You create your guy, you recruit party members, you get to control a kingdom! Yes, this game has some bugs, but they're working on fixing those, and honestly, I haven't encountered anything that breaks the game.
I love that your choices influence future encounters. I love that your alignment influences your dialogue options. I love that even though the overall story is the same, it plays out differently depending on the choices you've made.
This game is as close to playing tabletop DnD as you can get on a computer.
Yeah, turns out it works well on my base model of M1 Mac Mini (just like Baldur's Gate 3 does). But it was RATHER slow to instal. It stuck on 75% for a very long time during installation, plus you need to set the file eligible to be run and opened on the system. And it takes a considerably long time as well when it runs for the first time (but runs extremely fast after that). Everything is smooth sailing after that. You can even open many desktop screens at the same time with the game's running and do everything else on your computer, without a hitch.
The game is able to run on the highest settings with no problem whatsoever.
As for the game itself, though, I certainly love the graphics. But compared to Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Pathfinder Kingmaker LACKS in terms of sympathetic storyline and character development. It's rather dry, even. I will update this review as I dig deeper into the game.
