One step forward, three steps back

The Good: + Great graphics + At times very atmospheric + Likable characters + Two large sandbox hubs to explore + Shooting feels good and responsive + Weapon mods can be used for more than 1 weapon + Finally subtitles for almost every conversation + Spider Bunker & Dead City + Day/Nighttime cycle + DLC The Bad: - Metro's confined gameplay doesn't really work for open world - Story doesn't make any sense if you think about it - Hilariously bad English voice-overs - Artyom still is a silent protagonist in-game! - Artyom has no stamina and is tired after running 50 meters - Extremely dumb enemy A.I. - Too many unskippable cutscenes - QTE's for literally every movement (crawling, opening doors etc) - The Caspian is a big and boring Mad Max-like hub with very little to do - Yamantau is an on-rail shooting gallery - Can't sleep/rest on the train! - Waaaay too much talking!! - Stealth is too easy - Invisible walls - Annoying bear boss fight (again!) - Bugs, bugs, bugs The Ugly: - Realizing that still no game can beat S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s immersion and A-Life.

Highly Overlooked

Weapons for all cases, circumstances and scenarios? Yep Good AI that calls our your position depending on what type of object or landmark you are by? Yep Satisfying sound design for guns and other interactions? Yep Well written story that keeps you constantly engaged with a range of emotions and good characters? Yep No idea why people love to crap on thid title so much. I guess thats what years of constant COD and BF releases does to people.

真的香

我是个不常写点评的人，但当我写好评，就说明这游戏是真的香。先说剧情。这代剧情同样是原著作者写的，所以质量有保障。不用玩过前两代就可以直接进入，三代的剧情相对独立，而且没有the dark ones，没玩过前作的就直接当三代是什么平行世界之类的都行。如果有了解之前的设定的话确实会帮助你更好地欣赏本作剧情，不想麻烦的可以去看up主达奇上校的视频。不剧透地说，这作剧情是我个人认为最棒的，前两代我现在都忘差不多了，但是本作玩完之后真的是意犹未尽，故事很感人也很容易让人代入沉浸进去。强烈推荐购买两个dlc一起，尤其是Sam看着他结尾回到美国本土感慨万千。游戏玩法和前作一样，恰到好处的fps手感，不是cod那种突突突，也远没有arma那么硬核。我个人反正很喜欢。最后说一句就是推荐俄语配音，好听的，虽然毛味英语滑稽，但是俄语本身我个人是真的喜欢听。

A swing and a Miss

Metro 2033, Redux and LL/Redux are well-paced, atmospheric FPS adventures. I cannot say the same about Exodus which is a bloated mess of some good ideas and some very, very bad ones. The open-world sections are good for the most part, rewarding exploration and offering up some superbly atmospheric scripted and unscripted encounters/scenarios. Most of linear shooting galleries are good fun, boasting excellent sound design, animation and particle effects but the good pretty much stops there. The sheer amount of unskippable cutscenes full of terrible writing and awful voice acting drag the pace down to a crawl. This is not helped by Artyom being a mute which makes most of the interactions utterly ridiculous. Gordon Freeman was a mute but he also was not being asked direct questions and just standing there like a dunce not saying anything. The cutscene problem is particularly annoying on repeat playthroughs. The DLCs are also pretty middling, Sam's Story being particularly dull and Two Colonels ends just as it gets going. Really, really disappointing.

Looks good, plays poor

PROS: • Great graphics. • Detailed environments. • Emotional music. • The game tries to be immersive e.g., features a tangible, interactable map, minimalistic hud, etc. CONS: • Poor gameplay. Movement and shooting doesn’t feel right. • The game encourages you to play stealthily but it’s badly implemented. You can’t stick to walls, lean out of corners. Once any enemy learns of your location, the whole camp does. While there are some stealth indicators like a light on your watch and music cues, they don’t really work well and you’ll end up reloading the game way too many times. • All animations are preceded by a noticeable pause, as if the player character needs to think before performing a simple action, e.g. opening door. • Poor vehicle handling. • Long loading times. • Unskippable cutscenes. • Invisible walls. • QTEs instead of proper mechanics. • Annoying fake accents in the English dub. Why not do it like in the Chernobyl TV series where actors speak standard British English? • Too many “tell, don’t show” moments, rather than the other way round. • Silent protagonist (exluding DLCs), constraining narration and creating awkward moments where he is asked questions but doesn’t answer them. • The survivors leave the metro to look for a safe haven. It doesn’t take a lot to figure out that uncontaminated areas would be located far away from urban centers, in the countryside, where there are no strategic targets to attack. Yet, the characters put themselves in harms way, looking for clues where to go in dangerous places, rather than use their common sense. Also, train tracks are somehow still usable after 20 years without being maintained.
