The mechanics of this are quite good and reminiscent of Dungeon Siege, but the thing that stands out is unlike most ARPGs there's actually a very good story driving the gameplay along with real moral choices.
I recommend playing on normal difficulty, especially if it's your 1st time playing. Started at Hard but had to remake since it was too overtuned. Attunement system is interesting but complicated (I managed to understand it fully only at the end of the game). Complete playthrough , with all quests done is about 15-20h at normal.
The engine, UI and combat are nothing to write home about. That much is true. Even the story isn't as well written as the 5 star reviews might indicate. But I really enjoyed the witty, tongue-in-cheek dialogue. Sometimes, when playing with the expectation of the reader, it even reminded me of Joss Whedon's style. Sadly, that's very, very rare (and equally precious).
Positive points:
- Interesting story;
- The graphics of the scenarios are quite pleasant;
- For those from Brazil, the GOG version has a complete translation into PT-BR (just make sure to select it in the external configurator).
Negative points:
- The combat is not satisfactory, there isn't that brutal sound and that most brutal death animation, it feels like you're hitting enemies with a cardboard sword (by playing you will understand);
- For some reason the GOG offline installer took almost 1 hour to install the game, and it also took a while to uninstall (maybe this is a irrelevant for most people);
- There is a bug with the character's statistics, instead of numbers appearing, letters appear, making everything difficult to understand (this was mentioned in other reviews);
- The screen aspect ratio is stuck at 4:3 and the available resolution for most will be 1024x768.
Well, I could list more negative points, but I just focused on the main ones, the ones you will see at the beginning. Despite my 1 star rating, I encourage you to play and draw your own conclusions. ;)
