Gibbous is an adventure with beautiful art, decent writing and bearable (how rare in those type of games!) puzzles.

Kitteh steals the show
Let's cut to the chase. Not everything in the game is perfect but it shows that developers put some heart in it. Graphics looks great (though some locations are quite dark and hotspot showing is really useful there). Puzzles are very simple, except the pentagram and opening doors in the Butcher's lab, which are just simple (moderate if you're fairly new to this kind of games). I can see some unused potential here and I'd like to see puzzles requiring more cooperation between Buzz and Kitteh. The story is serviceable, even though a bit chaotic (we have mysterious Bob Olmstein, fishpeople of Innsmouth, secret cults, Necronomicon, Transylvania with mandatory Vlad...) and some interesting characters. Don seems to be a bit too much stereotypical PI from noir crime stories but he's fine. I preferred controlling Buzz and Kitteh is great. She really felt like grumpy, sarcastic cat (the actress done awesome work here). I also liked references to Lovecraft stories and (a bit too predictable) classic P&C references. The sad ending is a bit tonally inconsistent with the rest of the game which is more wacky, humorous adventure rather than gloom lovecraftian story.

Good in theory, plays like a chore.
I really want to give this game a good note, but it's just a chore to play. Some of the puzzles are obvious and not rewarding, while others are too complex or depend on a single, easy to miss interaction... and are not rewarding as well. There are lots of characters around that don't really contribute much to the story... Oh right, there's a story. It's boring and not engaging. In fact it could be gone and I wouldn't even notice. The whole game feels like it's focused on telling the jokes... Which is fine, but I expect something to go through the game. Otherwise these could be just random joke videos. Let's summarize starting with positives: - lots of jokes that I find funny - Nice art and locations - Pretty good voice acting Weak points of this game are: - Boring and uninspired story - Some of the jokes feel forced - The puzzles tend to be unbalanced, either too easy or too abstract.

A very solid adventure game
A humoristic take on cthulhu? Sure, why not. Gibbous is a good point and click adventure, it's not really hard, since each chapter is sectioned off in just a few areas and the spacebar will highlight everyting that's interactable, so you will never be stuck that long, and even if you are you can bruteforce the game by just clicking everything on everything. Overall pretty good puzzle design, with very little moon logic. Art design is good, music is good, voice acting is mostly good. The humor lands for the most part. I didn't really care for the resolution of the story, it's a littel too sequel-baity, but overall good but perhaps not perfect.

Really cute, I liked it
Had fun playing this. the animation is superb. The story is certainly something and I think I'll have to try and understand it more, but it's not bad. Maybe the charactes are a bit one dimensional. The one critique I'll give, and this isn't much of a spoiler, is that it's clearly set in the world of HP Lovecraft but seems hesitant to use the names associated with it. Mostly, I mean the way Fishmouth is clearly Innsmouth but is just not called that. That's odd and robs from immersion.
