Before man climbed down from the trees to shop in megastores and drink cappuccino, before the Earth wadded itself into a cool blue ball, before the Moon even existed, there was the Island. The Island, a massive fragment of a long-lost planet, hurtling blindly through space. Upon the surface of this paradise wanders the giant, Kabuto. Little does Kabuto know that the Island was home to others before him. In the oceans, there dwells a matriarchal race called the Sea Reapers. In their pride, they created Kabuto, as a defense against intruders. But Kabuto became conscious of himself, his loneliness, his pain - and he went berserk.
Space castaways, the Meccs piloted their ship through space, looking for their missing friends. If you haven’t guessed already, they ended up on the Island. Faced with yet another unscheduled layover while on their way to Planet Majorca, the Meccs decide to make the best of their temporary home. Just their luck - the natives are already embroiled in their own little war, and the Mecc visitors are most unwelcome!
Meccaryns... Sea Reapers... Kabuto... One island isn’t big enough for the three of them.
Three unique races, each with a totally different gameplay experience
Bawdy humor that will keep you laughing throughout the game

This game is hilarious. The characters are fantastic and varied as is the gameplay. Part FPS, part TPS, part RTS, this game is just so much funny and so darn funny. I laughed the whole way through. I wish other people would make games as risky and brilliantly creative, but it seems like these things are just parts of the past now. Everyone should place this at least once, just such a blast.
I used to run a 250+ person monthly LAN party, and without fail every single time we would be consumed by the 3-way action that is Giants.
While admittedly single player is a bit of a yawner, nothing will ever compare to having a standard multiplayer shooter shook up by the randomness of Kabuto.
When my friends and I saw this game here on GoG, we waxed nostalgic, bought a few copies, and 8 hours later we were still screaming our heads off when Kabuto snuck up behind us and ate our team.
Good times. Buy now.

This game was way ahead of it's time. It was way too original, way too grand, and way too graphically taxing that it never saw the fame and popularity it truly deserved. And into the depths of time it disappeared, fading into obscurity.
This game is a perfect blend of comedy, squad-based FPS, RTS, fantasy, and monster simulator. It has been over 18 years since it released, and I can still remember the hours and hours of fun I had playing this quirky and impossible-to-categorize game. The memories of all the weird characters and their dialogue, the excitement of flying around and building a base while shooting at enemies, the rush of executing wrestling moves as a giant monster, have all been permanently burnt into my brain and it makes me smile like an idiot, almost 20 years later.
Of all the gems that may be on GOG, this one has a special place in my heart.
ok i saw this game, i didnt buy it cause i though wow, i bought it cause i was bored. and i bought it when it came out. to my amazment it was so funny and so good. id never seen a third person fps mixed with rts and bundled together with great funny moments. the opening has you throwing stones on creatures called smarties lol.
my bigest disapointment is planet moon never got the chance to revisit this game or sequalise it as people simply didnt buy it. and hey you people missed something very special. thk you planet moon for giants.
i only give 10 out of ten for certain games this one and last of us two with battlefield 2 and 2142. thats it, they are my favorite games, horizen zero dawn and gods of war come close and thats in 2020.
i remeber reviews 10 years later still puting giants in their top 5 games of all time. and theres a great reason for that and the reson you should all play it.
This game is an absolute blast to play. It's well worth your small investment here on GOG for hours of enjoyment. Let me explain.
The core game is pretty cool. There are 3 different playable species each with their own weapons, abilities, and stories. You start off as a gun wielding Meccaryn looking for his lost buddy. The game is a 3rd person shooter but ends up having RTS base-building elements as well. Don't worry, the RTS element is very simple and really adds to the quality of game.
Just when you've had enough as playing the Meccaryn, it switches over to the Sea Reapers. These are the scantily clad female type that use a bow & a more spiritual approach. The final character you play as is the "Giant" Kabuto.
What the developer did very well was create enough of a story to tie it all together, while maintaining an upbeat and (many times) funny tempo.
The humor to be found in this game is similar to that of "Armed & Dangerous." It's British humor at it's finest: a little dumb, a little campy, but ultimately hilarious. The dialogue is spot on with believable voice acting that it's not distracting.
With all of this praise, there are some things which might annoy some people. You are unable to save your game as often as you want; it saves at the end of a level. This can be frustrating as most are aware of because if you mess up and die after playing for 25 minutes in a level.. you have to do it all over again. (Personally, I like the challenge as difficulty is missing from most modern games.)
There are also some clipping issues and you can get eaten by piranhas even after leaving the water sometimes. Also, it might have been better to mix up the gameplay time between the three species. But ultimately, this doesn't affect things too much.
Wrap up: this is a solid game that is a worthy addition to any shooter fan's collection. Coupled with the mods that are available (see the forum) Giants really can't be beat.
Believe it or not, this game was a buggy mess when it first came out. That has certainly changed. Thankfully, though, this game certainly has only gotten better with time.
