Environments look quite nice, but you can't interact with much of it. Controls feel "sluggish". Can't rebind keys. Very annoying "burning" mechanic that just sucks fun out as renders "cover" irrelevant apparently. Driving is just awful - so bad I've elected to sprint across the city to avoid doing it where I can. This has been massively overhyped and I regret getting it. Deus Ex with some mods is far more fulfilling.
The game itself is fun, exploration and lore are great. However as one of the main story quests is completely broken unless you have everything go exactly right it makes it impossible to finish. As this is a main story quest I would expect it to be fixed quite quickly however we are now on 1.0.5 and nothing has changed. So with nothing to do other than restart and lose 50+ hours of playing the game ends here at a frustrating bugged stop.
Pros:
- Good story and believable characters.
- Great voice acting.
- Looks incredible.
Cons:
- runs poorly even in a decent hardware (RTX-2080 Super, i7-7700, 1440p monitor. Dips below 60 fps on Mid with DLSS enabled with latest graphic driver!!!!).
- very buggy takes away from the immersion.
- Did not lived up to the hype.
- Shallow RPG elements. (boring skill trees, looting ...)
- No NPC interaction making the game feel empty.
- No character customization only at the start.
Let's start by saying, i'm a massive witcher fan (books, games and netflix serie), and have alot of hours clocked in the witcher 3 ( witcher 2 aswell, witcher 1 not that many). So when i heard that cdprojectred next game would be cyberpunk 2077 i was hyped. Said to myself, man these people made the witcher 3 and the story is amazing, the side quests were amazing, a beautifull game, great atmosphere and it's a game with massive replayability. TLDR: i was wrong.
At release the game was almost unplayable, frequent crashes, an obsceen amount of bugs, performance issues, and then some. This game wasn't finished for any of the platforms it released on (not even going to go into the console version of the game) and cdprojectred knew it. Their promise of releasing when ready was a lie and that is asking for the critical axe if you ask me.
You can't immerse yourself in a game, where your character does a T-pose in every car ride and shoots himself above it aswell. Dying from nothing is a commen occurrence, or suddenly getting launched to another planet aswell.
And the story? don't get me started on it, it's not bad but it isn't good either. Choices don't matter at all, and with that i mean as an impact on the ending and sometimes even the quest itself. Reactions of a group of people that just glorified you in a mission you just did, keep cursing you out or atleast mention that you are trash when you get back into the open world, this is unimersive to me.
Also the main story is way to short for my liking and side quests lack good story. Again probally something i got used to from the witcher 3 side quests being really wel written.
I'm sorry if this seems a bit ranty but then again it's the truth. I finished the game now with the streetkid origin and i can say that i probally never do another playthrough of cyberpunk again. It just isn't interesting enough to keep playing.
I will not discuss the desolate technical state, because this is nothing new, because it can be fixed. What cannot be fixed though is the whole game. I did not expect this. I thought Cyberpunk 2077 would be outright groundbreaking next-gen cyberpunk game true to every sense of the gerne. We were all waiting for a game to finally define cyberpunk once and for all. Honestly. A cyberpunk game without cyberspace? All there is to cybernetics are imaginary modules which enhance imaginary numbers? Hacking with a push of a button? No custom attack vectors? No bootleg electronics? No custom cybernetics? So, there is no cyber in this game, and there is no punk? Cyberpunk 2077 is just an adaptation of the shallow genre that was sucked dry in the 80s, corpo wars and stupid violence.
The city looks great though, great voice acting, the story is quite cyberpunk, but nothing new. If you liked GTA and Saints Row 4, this is a game for you. If you are a true fan of cyberpunk, brace yourself for disappointment, because this cannot be fixed.
