I cannot convey to you how good this turned out to be. The writing is fantastic, the characters are complex and believable, the choices meaningful and painful at times. What looks like a simple game on the surface is actually filled with deep emotional intelligence and reflection. Highly recommended.
Rcently redone the game before the launch of Citizen sleeper 2, what a game. Probably one of my favorite game of all time.
I am an average scifi/cyberpunk/biopunk enjoyer, so i was first attracted by the setting and the art of Guillaume Singelin which i read some works in the past.
But this game hit me so hard the first time i completed it. I never played a game where i related so much to the characters and became so invested in it. Beside the nature of the game being mostly reading and resource management.
I will always admire the way the very nature of the gameplay make you feel as a player: the rythm of life, cycling, creating some routine. Yet feeling the pressure of daily survival.
Everything is well written, every dialog/event is a good read. Every character feel like someone. And it's a pleasure to get to know them, to like them or juge them sometime. The story is good. The game cover and touch a lot of different themes/ideas: it is about people, about finding a place, about walking forward, about fear, about love. It also talk about politics, about society, anarchism, about leadership and freedom.
Another thing i didn't expected why launching the game is the OST, it's composed by Amos Roddy, who also worked on the game Kingdom. I didn't know his work but the OST of CS is a masterpiece and is a big part of the experience for me. It is also wisely used during the game, with silence when needed, and emotive piece when appropriate.
I can't express how i am glad this game exist, how i felt when first completed it, and also all the emotions/feeling, thinking that i had while playing it.
I will never forget this game, and i hope that if you choose to play it, it will also take a special place in your heart.
A cyberpunk game with dices.
You wake up in a space station with no idea of where you are and how to survive.
In order to excute actions dices in limited number are at your disposition.
The higher the value of the dice is, the better are your chances of success.
That's it for the gameplay, the rest is up to you. Explore the station, do quests and side quests to progress in the story of the various character you will encounter.
Completed them and earn points to unlock skills. Skills mostly used for upgrading your dices and chances of success.
All the characters are drawn with care and acordingly too their backstory, each one is different and recognisable.
The music is perfect for the game, synthwave and smmoth electronics theme puting you in a cozyness and immerging you in the game.
The game isn't difficult once you understand the mechanics, all the interest are in the choices and actions you will make and that will impact the ends of the quests you do and ultimatly
the ending of the game itself.
If you aren't a native english speaker, this game might be a challenge since all you will do is read dialogue with charaters and read your thoughts. So if you're not sure about your english this might come with some difficulty.
A really good role playing/narrative game in a cyberpunk world. Stories are good and touch on serious/interesting themes. With that come great music and a beautiful artistic direction. If you like cyberpunk, narrative game and have a strong english go for it.
Took me around 10 hours to do, and at the moment 1 free DLC is to be released and two are already out.
I wasn't quite sure what I had signed up for when I first started playing. It's seemed like such a crude gameplay loop. Sometimes simplicity is all that is required.
The calming music, the characters and storylines, the mystery of it all.
I have really enjoyed this game, and I think I will always remember it.
To the developers of this game....thank you the journey.
