Doom II reborn in a ravaged future, post‑nuked, mutant‑infested, unforgettable.
Ashes 2063 is a total conversion for the GZDoom engine that dismantles Doom II and rebuilds it as a survival‑oriented, Fallout‑meets‑S.T.A.L.K.E.R. adventure. This mod delivers a richly immersive journey through irradiated wastelands, gang‑ruled ruins, and mutant‑infested highways.
Dive Into a Wasteland Like No Other
A Gritty Rebuild of Doom – explore dozens of hand‑crafted maps filled with explosive, fast‑paced combat and tense exploration.
Post‑Nuclear Storytelling – step into the role of a scavenger navigating factions, mutants, and radiation while following a cryptic radio broadcast emanating from an irradiated metropolis.
Modern Mechanics in a Retro Shell – enjoy reloading, crouching, jumping, full mouse‑look, radiation effects, inventory, crafting, destructible environments, shops, NPC dialogue, unique death animations, and side quests. All layered over classic Doom engine mechanics.
Power, Peril, and Persistence
Wield a Savage Arsenal – from 9 mm pistols to improvised railguns, the mod delivers diverse, brutal weaponry and furious combat.
Unforgiving Challenge – face mutant dogs, raiders, crazed snipers, acid-spewing flora, and “Cannibal Warlords” in dual form- a merciless boss fight that tests reflexes and strategy.
Ambient Audio That Claws Its Way In – a haunting, award-winning soundtrack by John S. Weekley (aka PRIMEVAL) underpins every step with atmospheric weight.
Scrap. Survive. Scavenge. Explore.
Ashes 2063 is not just a conversion. It’s a redefinition of how far the Doom formula can be pushed. Dive into a world built on decay, and fight to escape its ashes.
The GOG version of Ashes 2063 currently includes Episode 1 and the Dead Man Walking DLC. More episodes will be added to the mod over time.

Great Mod. I enjoyed playing it. Not a complaint just FYI you might as well spend all your $ when you're in town. Buy the gun and the drugs. You don't go back to town and have zero other use for your money for the rest of the game.
If you like DOOM mods, this is a bit more than your usual run-and-gun. There's a story behind it which, in my honest opinion bring the game and the setting to life. Really good fun! The only thing I say is a downside is that fact that you have to be careful with the ammo expenditure...
Ashes is, in full seriousness, a better game than a lot of AAA releases, made with a great deal of real passion, talent, and skill. It makes expert use of the engine and its quirks to create an experience that sticks in your memory, and is one of the few games I've played that make good enough use of atmosphere and level design to induce a sense of unease in spooky moments even though I know the flow of the levels by heart. Do you know how rare that is?
The guns are distinct and - SMG aside - are all useful. The enemies are likewise distinct both visually and behaviourally, needing different approaches to defeat. The levels are recognizable, memorable, and strewn with secrets, and are well enough designed that I hardly ever find myself lost and wondering where I'm supposed to go, which is much rarer than I'd like.
The plot is decent, though as with most shooters it isn't really the focus. It's carried mostly by the world and the characters. The sequel, Afterglow, is a major improvement in every way and while it's not on here yet, I hope it will be soon.
Ashes is one of those mods that are so impressive that if it were released commercially, I would quite happily spend twenty or thirty Euros on it, no questions asked, and that is extremely rare for me to say. If you enjoy FPS games, Doom mods, or the post-atomic horror setting, you owe it to yourself to play this. You won't regret it. You're missing out if you don't.
