Good, but

I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to git gud enough to actually get anywhere in the game. Gameplay-wise it's great, but all the restarts are getting frustrating.

Gothic

Great game!

The game itself is great. That's why I got it on GOG as well. Doesn't run on my Win 10 box, tho.

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition

The Dream World is worth it!

I played the European version (Kult: Heretic Kingdoms) a long time ago and really liked it. The attunement system, where your weapon gets better the more you use it is nice, but the concept I liked the most was the Dream World. (And I'm surprised no other reviews mention it yet.) It's a mechanic I always wanted to see in a game: your character can step between a "normal" and a "dream" world. Some entities are only present in one of them, some can switch (like you), some are in both at the same time. This can be used to evade enemies (literally walking through them in the dream world, if they can't enter it), attuning your weapons or finding ghosts normally invisible. While it may not be a perfect game, this alone, and a good ending, were worth it for me.
