It's good. It's not perfect, but it's good. For 2 bucks, this was a great deal in my opinion. It was a very enjoyable experience throughout the 15 hours. At times, it felt like it was dragging a bit too much, but overall the experience was surprisingly good. The story is... bland? I like the storyline with Alma, but mostly it's just "point A to point B". It's very cheesy at times, but I mean, it's influenced by Japanese horror, of course it's cheesy. The characters are pretty good, mostly. I like Alma, I like Paxton and I especially like Rowdy the coordinator... but there're still characters that are somewhat bad. For example Norton, who isn't awful, is just your typical comedic relief character, which just takes me away from the game. Alice and Harlan aren't awful characters either, but they're not interesting or memorable enough to even call them good or ok characters. The level design honestly is really good. It's nowhere near the same quality as Bioshock's levels, but they're honestly really good. Levels are explorative and interesting, and they're really detailed. The soundtrack is awesome. At times the tracks don't fit with what's going on, but most of the time the tracks suck you into the game. The atmosphere is the best part of the game, easily. Most of the time, you can't expect what's in the darkness. Sound design makes the atmosphere even scarier, making the game actually pretty scary, especially when the battery runs out of the flashlight. Gunplay and the enemies are also great. The guns don't have much personality or upgradability in them, making the play a bit repetitive, which is saved by the grenades, which create more opportunities to take on enemies. And while we're talking about enemies, REV6 and Heavy Armor kinda suck. They take tons of damage, but they aren't that interesting, unlike replicas and assassins, with the latter one still haunting my mind. . Overall, it's a really good game. It's not perfect, but it's good at what it is.
FPS-fan or not, this game is a must-play for everyone. I'm not even an FPS-fan, thanks to COD and other bad FPS-games, however, this game brought me to appreciate FPS-games more. It's hard to explain by words what makes Bioshock so great. It might be the amazing and unique environment, it might be the amazing characters that have been created, it might be the deep, unique, and complex storyline. If you're a fan of the game, you might have chosen all of the options, instead, I chose Rapture. Rapture makes this game already amazing. There's no place in any game, that has felt as unique and beautiful as Rapture. Everything is explained, there's nothing left to wonder, there're no "holes" anywhere: everything has been detailed to the point, where this kind of city would be possible. It's something that Donald Trump could make, just so that he could be the leader of his own city. To be honest, if he made that, he'd be my leader... well, only if he wouldn't create daddies and sisters, and make people splice up. Rapture as a whole is beautiful, but at the same time, it's sad how the city of its prime, became the worst place in the world. I have to also talk about some of the characters because I would be mad at meself if I didn't. Andrew Ryan is an amazing character and so is Atlas. To be honest, all of the characters are amazing. Every single character has it's traits, especially Andrew Ryan. His whole character gives me shivers, not because he's scary or anything, because he's so quotable. "No kings or Gods. Only man", "A man chooses. A slave obeys" and so on. He's so amazing and lovable, that I can't describe it. Also one of the things I love is the setting. Great 50s-60s music, classical posters, classical animations, the propaganda, everything feels so warm and cool, and it couldn't be done in any better way. Overall, this is an amazing game, just effin' fantastic. I also recommend you to play the original one, 'cos to be honest boyo... remastered ain't any good.
