If you even remotely enjoyed StarTrek Basic, back in the day, then this is the game for you. eg: Search for "Star Trek Classic : Basic JS" It is so much more elaborate and complex. Their game description does not do it justice. I am only on the 6th mission, so I look forward to increasing in rank and commanding more ships. My complains would be the single thread dos limitations that cause some pausing, and key stroke confusion. But minor complaints aside this is a great game. I hope they do keep the same look and feel and do a modern version. Heck, even if done in Delphi / Lazarus. It would be nice to be able to fight for Star Fleet, but being the bad guy gives it a great 'campy' feeling to the game.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of point and click adventures. But this is a great point and click adventure for so many reasons. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, give it a try. Great acting Good sci-fi story. Not amazing, but better than most Fun mini games Clues are not too obtuse. Most things you need to do make sense. Fairly linear. Not a lot of pointless backtracking, and where there is backtracking it is on a small ship. The click point targets are not impossible to find pixel size targets. It is pretty obvious what you should click on. Not too long. Story is cut into 3 -4 mini areas which keeps the story fresh. Trying to fix the ship really gave me a sense of being on a ship. Graphics are decent. Yes, they are state of the art VGA 🙂 Good FMV
IMO could have been better. This is likely for hard core players. Even after 10 hours I was still getting cut down by everyone. Not fun for those who play games for fun, not punishment. It needs an easy, old man mode. No english audio. But that was ok. It crashed a few times, so that is a negative. On the positive, it is Oblivion.
It starts with the fact that you need either a DVD player, or a virtual DVD player to play Single Player. Then there is the random crashes after leaving the hanger. This 'might' be a good game, but I will never know. The frustration of trying to get it to run is just not worth it. You shouldn't have to mod a game to try and get it to play.
What is it with publishers that are to lazy to implement a real save system. If you have responsibilities in life, this is a must in games. It is not fun to play the same level over and over. Only checkpoints. No save system. Boo! Why waste my time.
The update on steam lagged way behind. I believe it has updated now. It is a grinding survival village building game/sim with a few missions scattered around the map. It is good in the sense that there are no monster / zombies. So family friendly in that sense. But you will get jumped by bandits on occasion and will have to hunt or farm like crazy to survive. I would have liked to seen more of a main story line. There are some story lines, but the focus is on surviving, so it get's drowned out. I found the management of your village a little bit cumbersome. They could have designed that better, and probably explained those mechanics better. I have not played coop, but that is a big selling point! It was interesting in the sense that trees become a scarce commodity as you build your village. So you have to travel farther to cut and gather. I am not sure if the wildlife are similarly limited. But I respect that kind of realism and modern commentary, nature as a limited resource. If you like the survival aspect of games, this is your game.
