I'm following the mod since the very beginning. I think it is absolutely awesome. I loved MoM but the AI certainly could have been better. Seravy made the impossible possible and modded a DOS game to such extremes, I only ever seen in Dioxine's X-Piratez mod for OpenXCOM. Diplomacy really works, AI is great, spells and troops are relatively balanced. You might argue with some changes and additions, but I can tell you there was a lot of feedback and Seravy did his best to combine creativity and balance. I'm really thankful for his hard work and look forward to CoM 2. CoM deserves 5 stars - BUT - the publisher doesn't unfortunately. I use Linux and the publisher thought the launcher and installer should be Windows only. If you're on Linux you need to install the base game and then use Wine to install the Windows version of the base game and the DLC. Then you need to copy the contents of the DLC folder to the native installation. Then you can play it on Linux without issues. Don't forget to read the Readme and change the Dosbox cycles in the config file, so it plays smoothly.
It isn't even nostalgia since i play this game for only a couple of years and i can whole heartily tell you it's one of the absolutely best strategy games. So much depth, flavor and replay value, it is incredible. One tip: if you played vanilla get the Caster of Magic mod. Still worked on and incredible fixing and balancing. With the mod even diplomacy works. The vanilla AI is the only significant gripe i had in my countless of play hours.
