Papers Please has been sitting in my catalogue for a very long while and I hesitated to get into it after a while because of how addicting it could get, and how many endings the game can have. Holy smokes, the endings - there's apparently 20 endings for the game, depending on how you play (whether you pay rent, food, accept / reject bribes, do the document checks correctly, how you interact with various NPCs etc.). I luckily got to the "standard ending" and was quite happy about it! I saw a few other endings as well but I don't reckon I'd dare and try get through all of them - that would take a while. The game is simple in terms of looks and gameplay but it's definitely worth to check it out as it's fun!
I got the game quite some time ago and it took me a while to get into it. Somehow, the exploration and gameplay did not seem to intrigue me at first but today, I've picked up my controller and went for it. NB! This game might NOT support third party controllers. Xbox controller seems to be the only way to go and it's not possible to re-bind the keys in game menu. Wah-wah. And so I had got back to the game with the intention to finish it (as it was getting really dusty) and next thing I knew - I got hooked and glued my eyes to the screen.. So hooked and glued, in fact, that I completed the whole game in the same day. And I really enjoyed it! Can definitely recommend to anyone who loves platformers, art & great soundtrack. I'm very much looking forward to playing the sequel!
The game looks great...plays fine (though it took me quite some time to get used to the controls...) but the gameplay & story were very poorly made, in comparison to my previous Prince of Persia games. To summarise the game - it is a platformer. You unlock lads in the world, and then collect the globes, which will help you unlock more places. And again, and again, and so on. So, if you're really into easy platformers, and it is your jam - then look no further, and get this game. The fighting is very simplistic - you hit, you parry, and repeat. Any enemy that you bring to the edge can be overthrown (in most battles). It became too boring, too quickly. And soundtrack and the story - really did not hit me. It just feels like this game was purely made for children or otherwise, the fans of platformers. It is a nice game but too simple and blunt.
I hold a similar opinion of this game as its predecessor: can't be bothered by the story, poor shooting & there is nothing new about the gameplay overall. Though this game made a better impression on me and I at least managed to finish it, which is nice! There was more action in this chapter and the shooting improved just by a bit - it was a more enjoyable experience. However, I still stand by the opinion that there are better shooters out there. So, unless you're really deep into Metro's lore, or want to play some Russian game, then, this is the game for you!
This game has not aged well and shooting in this game does not even feel great - it feels like you're shooting from a gun with a silencer on or water gun. An example of an excellent shooter I have recently played would be "Call of Juarez - Gunslinger" and Metro 2033 has not come even an inch close to that game in terms of how an FPS game should be put together. Story wise - I could not honestly care less. Soundtrack was barely even there for me - may be it was. I just did not really notice. And the game is dark - could barely see anything. I highly recommend watching video gameplays of this game before actually buying it. See for yourself if this is something that you would want to play and if the story sounds interesting to you.
Throughout the whole game, it felt like it did not want to be played. If you were to make a slight mistake, you lose a level and start again (fortunately, you repeat the day, so that's great). It was not even challenging - it just became annoying and happened at least a few times. I was not sure why the game was trying to take itself so seriously at times. There were a bunch of side quests but I had no idea how to continue / finish them. If you like detective games, this one may be for you because I could not give a damn about the side quests. Speaking of the story - it was mediocre at best (in general though, I could not be bothered by it). Same goes for music. I managed to reach day 21 but apparently I screwed something up with mafia and they just would not let me go past the other side of the beat (street), and I would not even know which day I would need to start to not run into that issue. I decided to give up because I just cannot be bothered to try again and would rather do something else with my time. The time was very limited and I just was not enjoying rushing from corner A to corner B to do the daily tasks + extras - 'cause if you don't, you won't have enough money left to pay up the alimony. So yeah, there were a few things about the game that put me off and it was also buggy (every 4th / 5th mission the AI would just bug, e.g. not respond to a command). If you're a fan of pixelated games and do not mind rushing here and there to complete the tasks, then this could be a game for you!
I grew up with SEGA and loads of 2D games but ever since games became 3D, I barely played any 2D games at all since then. I saw a gameplay of some but was never interested in picking them up. However, when Cuphead came out, I was astonished and it was one of the very first few games that I got when I bought a PC for myself. And boy, oh boy, did I enjoy playing the game. The soundtrack is top-notch, the boss and run & gun levels were challenging but yet compelling enough for me to give it one try after another. And it took a while for me to complete the game but I really enjoyed it. Cuphead is not the kind of the game I was mad at for losing because I could clearly see how I got hit and what hit me - it is a fair game. Also, it was way easier for me to play the game with a controller, so you may consider picking one up too. If you're up for a challenge, love 30s animation cartoons, heartwarming jazz music and want to have fun, then this game is surely for you!
