I adored the first game and was so excited when I found out that a sequel was in the works. This game is a true masterpiece! I would certainly recommend playing KCD 1 beforehand to get the backstory and feel of the game. The game is set in 2 different districts- Trosky and Kuttenburg. Two very large maps with lots of things to find and areas to explore. The attention to detail is incredible; just like the first game, everything feels genuine of the era- architecture, dress, weaponry and armour etc. I even love the rats that run around! The soundtrack is fitting and beautifully composed. The quests are fun and intriguing and some have multiple ways to finish them. There are some laugh out loud moments and others that are sad, hard to believe, tense or that bring complete satisfaction. All of your in-game skills are put to the test and level increases are easy enough. The story-line has you hooked from the first major event and contains more twists and turns than hairpin bends! What's new: Several things are new in the game including- - Weaponry- There are now polearms, crossbows and early firearms which can be used. - Smithery- Henry can create items at any forge. - Perks/rewards- New and interesting perk points, such as the ability to find other items while picking plants - Animals- Wild dog and/or wolf attacks - Crime and punishment- time in the stocks are just the beginning... - A second playable character in some parts of the game! This game has some amazing characters- some old familiar faces and others we've never met before. One of the things I love best about it is the growing friendship between Henry and Hans and their tested loyalties. You can find yourself really rooting for them the entire game. Truly a wonderful game in every sense and worth every dollar! Thank you and well done to the content creators for an amazing piece that will be enjoyed for years to come!
After seeing a preview of this game 2 years ago, I knew I had to buy it when it was released. I've not been able to stop playing it since it came out- this game is literally keeping me up at night! One of the best aspects of the game is the combat. Unlike many other games, the fighting has a much more 'real time' base to it. Rather than a 'slash and you're dead' system, this games makes you take the time to learn all the necessary fighting skills, including sword, unarmed, mace and others. You also need to learn other skills, such as riding, hunting/archery, lockpicking etc. The lore and feel of the game is incredible. Because the game is set according to actual history, the different time brings a somewhat calmer, yet also tense feeling to the story. Having a glimpse into the way we used to live and conduct ourselves is very interesting, and every item is genuine of the time. I love being able to explore the beautiful scenery, being able to hunt and play through a variety of quests. Graphically, this game is stunning and the soundtrack is beautiful. The armour set from the pre-order DLC is the best in the game, and is so much fun to find! The game centres on a young man named Henry, who watches his parents get viciously murdered and his town razed. Hellbent on revenge, the story begins- and what a story it is! Gripping, intriguing and suspenseful, it sucks you in from the first minute. From there, you have the ability to fashion Henry to your liking- create a knight, a criminal, a monk... the choice is up to you to decide on his strengths and weaknesses. Do you want him to have brute strength and agility or be a charismatic smooth talker? The choice is up to you. As with any new game, there are more bugs than an ant colony, but if you can overlook these and wait for patches, then you are in for a brilliant ride. Well worth every dollar spent and every sleepless night!
