Great game, but probably would be unplayable without mods. The game has this automatic lock on when in combat that makes the gameplay absolutely atrocious. Luckily there are mods to fix the problems with it.
Game looks to have a lot of potential, but on my play through I sent 3 families to mine ore for 6 months to be able to defend my village. In the end I didnt get even one piece of ore and raiders came and just destroyed my village. Sucks to put that much time in to building something just to be screwed over like that. Will return the game and look back into it in a couple years when it hopefully gets better.
