My copy is on steam, but I've played this thing into the ground, and wish I could toggle a button that made this stop popping up for me thanks to that, but since I couldn't, got to thinking I should mention that for the price this game is *wild*. The plot is a bit hit or miss for folks, I like it but I enjoy chasing down bits of lore and piecing together fragments, it makes a world feel real to me. There's a lot of "do your own thing, explore, whatever" here which I love. I think my only other review on this is for Morrowind (glowing) which might help lend insight here. The basebuilding is a little frustrating at times - stairs. Man. I am warning you about those stairs. - but the satisfaction of plunging into the sky endlessly and finding things is addictive. That said, I only have around 400 hours. But it's very decent. I haven't beaten it either because I like doing my own thing, finding new worlds, too much. I think that's the cool part, personally. Since I started playing earlier this year there's been at least 2 pretty huge updates (Relics and Settlements I think it is? Haven't played that one much yet) as well as occasional expeditions it seems. It's neat. If you like poking around space, there are worse uses of time.
Oh, Morrowind. To say I've bought and paid for this title in full at least 5 times over would not be exaggeration. To say I've spend blood, tears, and toil on the same would be fair as well. Two decades devoted to this game and I'm still as ardent an admirer as the day we met. It's a brutal beast- unforgiving, and unapologetic, alien and unflinching in its disdain for any brazen soul that expects a gently held hand upon leaving the Excise office, but there is such depth, outlander, so much for you to explore, to unearth. More usefully: The UI is wonderful. The world is the story is the Island is all, and entwine magnificently, and I still find new things to this day, though I swear to you I've combed every inch of every polygon of this game. The immersion is immense, and for those sensitive to such matters, the mod community has brought the graphics up to date beautifully. The roleplay, ah. The mechanics a roleplayers heaven. The *battle* mechanics themselves now are somewhat clunky and may take adjusting to. They have their own charm in my opinion, but not everyone agrees. Still, the die-roll based hit chance is a sharp surprise if accustomed to newer titles. All told, it's worth trying. It's acquired taste perhaps, but it's a very fine meal.
