More FPS than survival horror for me which is a good thing. The only thing I recommend is that you play TEW 1 before playing this one, the story will make much more sense and the appreciation for all the improvements will be obvious. The tip I give is to focus mostly on stealth kills with your melee weapon, it's more fun and ammo will not be an issue also seek out and kill everything the upgrades are really worth it in this one.
Yep, she is into you this time and in the last chapter your are literally into her... to make it even more awkward she is supposed to be a 14 year old girl. Well worth a playthrough, for FPS enthusiast's especially if on sale and the Reborn expansion is fun too. The graphics are fine for a 2009 game and the story is moved forward from F.E.A.R 1 but I agree the A.I. is not as smart this time but fun none the less. As usual do yourself a favor an follow the fixes at www.pcgamingwiki DOT com, the one for the mouse is a must and the FOV tweak is also welcome due to our much bigger monitors and higher resolutions than 2009.
The original Tomb Raider games were fun to play back in their time but they are too dated for me to play now, This re-launch is actually much better than I expected, the graphics were great along with the game play. This triple-A title from 2013 is well worth playing and if you purchase this on sale it's a real bargain. Looking forward to the next two chapters here on GoG, if and when.
This game is a fun different take on a plat former, not hard to beat and yes I do wish it was longer but purchase on sale and it's worth every penny. The artwork is great and the whole game has an indie feel to it but very polished, take your time and enjoy the game for what it's worth. If there is ever a sequel I will purchase it for sure.
This game is a masterpiece and a must play for any gamer, as for the negative reviews.... remember this is GoG and most games need some tweaking anyway due to age, this one is no different, it's from 2008 no less and many PC related things have changed but any regular customer of GoG will get this running just fine with no problems, (pcgamingwiki is your best friend) if you are afraid of tweaking games maybe GoG is not for you and Steam will gladly hold your hand for a price and your soul. If you have never played this then you are missing a huge part of gaming history, the original Dead Space commercials on TV were legend and many people were too terrified to play this back then. As for the infamous Asteroid mini-game issue, just use a mouse or X-Box controller at that point (if your not already) and it's so easy it's actually fun.
If you like Bethesda style games this one will not let you down but remember this is a survival horror game so the devs gimp you in ways to make it artificially harder, mainly limited ammo and laughable running limitations (all up gradable but still limited) also the camera view / control are a little awkward until you get used to it (use Flawless Widescreen for a much better experience) . Graphics are great and ran fine on a i5-3.4ghz / 8 gig / Nvidia 1660 / SSD, just remember to do the cache file trick found on pcgamingwiki. Also if you enable the console there are many commands that will allow you to enhance your game play in many ways and finally ReShade allowed me to really brighten things up and make it shine without any cost to FPS.
I own 115 games on GoG and have installed/ran almost every one of them. Mad Max is the only game I have never been able to make work and I am very good at making hard to run games work on any PC. I have wasted too many hours trying to make this badly written piece of garbage run, I do not blame GoG, the dev's own this poor excuse of software. I should have done more research before the purchase, many people have many issues with this software. If it runs for you... great! consider yourself lucky.
tl;dr-If your a fan of Dishonored, Wolfenstein or Dead Space quality of gaming do not pass on this one. This is a top notch FPS sci-fi thriller where it pays to know each of your gun/nade/psi-power strengths and weaknesses so you know what to use against your foes, you scan them for this info, also your key/mouse bindings need forethought too with 6 guns and 1 melee wrench to manage along with 4 types of nades and many psi-powers. I was able to stay in the WSAD positioin by using the 1 to 4 number keys, caps-lock etc... and a gaming mouse with three extra buttons. As a bonus you are able to bind/re-bind everything in-game without leaving for menu and a cool fast access wheel that rocks, very well thought out by the devs. The graphics, story and challenges are very high quality, take your time and read everything, do the side missions and it will feel like a movie. The save system is well planned too with 20 main slots, 3 quick-saves and 3 auto-saves you are set, the only thing missing is a hot-key for quick-saves but its fast/easy enough, that is my one and only complaint.
The only thing sad about this gem is that you can only experience it the first time once and i'm not even sure a sequel is in order. The story is perfect and the ending very complete. This game will make you think about life and consciousness and what that really means and not in a douche bag preaching kinda way but the deeper meaning of what it is all about. I know that does not sound like fun but it is entertaining in a very unique satisfying way. The only complaint I had about this game is the auto-save system, I prefer manual saves because I hate to repeat myself but there is a work around to add manual saves, you just have to enable debug mode which also gives you access to many other cool features (instructions below) C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\Soma\Main\Default_user_settings.cfg Open and search for: DebugMode="false" Change to: DebugMode="true" Press F1 for a debug menu in game. ### small sample of debug features ### F1 - brings up debug panel with a ton of options (including God Mode) F7 - free cam / free roam F9 - Quicksave F10 - Quickload
This is a very well written game, the story is very good and the game play is excellent along with high quality graphics also I did not experience a single glitch or bug. I have nothing negative to say about this game. I really like the choice of game play, high quality stealth (think Thief on steroids) or flat out murder monster... your choice and it does effect the way the game unfolds and progresses, not in a huge way but noticeable for sure. The replay value of this one is great because of these choices, I played it twice both ways, going stealth was my favorite and if you do pick the stealth route you are still allowed to kill bad guys if you want just make sure to keep it under five for each level and you will still get a low chaos rating.
