I own both this & it's prequel on Steam & have sunk quite a lot of hours into both of them. The trailers / videos CAN be a bit visually confusing (though the game does a decent job of gently/slowly teaching you the points - one at a time - and slowly ramping up the difficulty). It REALLY is a skill game (button mashing is NOT going to help you out here) and you slowly ramp up with reflexes & visual recognition of 'what to press when' ... and things get VERY messy and super-satisfying as you progress. The COMPLETELY over-the-top moves & 80-s martial arts inspired/love-letter game is just superbly enjoyable at VERY reasonable price (I've had much less enjoyment out of much more expensive games). This is really a master class in HOW to get a lot out of "rather little". The controls are super simple (2 mouse buttons) ... but it works SO WELL. The music is awesome - as are the visuals, and the graphics while "simplistic" are very much not simple -- and work really well. All in all, a fantastic sleeper of a hit, that is excellent to enjoy piece-meal (whether for 5 minutes for a quick level or 2 hours) :).
Bought this on Steam (on a whim), wanting to play an FMV game again, as per distant memories of such games as 7th guest and co when growing up. Turns out, there's an entire new generation of fresh FMV games, in high quality video and (somtimes) with good (and terrible) acting. "Late Shift" has an acceptable plot (albeit a few inconsistencies), and various interesting avenues to discover (as you explore alternate paths, the fuller picture becomes clearer). I've enjoyed it, and you can probably focus it down in 4-6 hours. But I did enjoy it, and the price is quite reasonable ... and for it, you get VERY clean & crisp video and a competent FMV game. For other FMV affecionados, a few other titles to keep an eye out for (hopefully coming over to GOG): - Tender Loving Care (a game from the 90s, though - not new) - already on GOG. - The Bunker - Contradiction - The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker -
