I even got this version to work under Windows 10 64 BIT with the help of dgvoodoo. The presentation is old but nice. The game has a good voice acting and the sound is remarkable. I like the cartoonish animation style of this middle age like vampire world. I could only play this game until the first main adversary. The normal enemies in the game weren't a problem. Usually I am good enough to beat games with keypad and mouse, but not this console port. I tried it again and again and got knots in the fingers. I wished, there would be warnings of unplayability on the products to be able to skip such titles. Lost time and money. I am not willing to buy a gamepad for a few game titles because I don't want to have additional periphery for my pc which collects dust at home. My review is for the people who aren't gamepad acrobats like me.
In summer sale I did the big mistake to trust the 4.3 rating of Alan Wake, never again. Alan Wake the man who can't walk straight forward, who can't reload fast, who can't really jump, who walks like having a wooden peg in his ass and of course slow. A pure pussy victim as a gunslinger. The intention of Remedy entertainment must have been to take an intellectual plot to hide the overall bad game mechanics. Shame on you. Remedy must have thought that pressing q for recharging the battery of the lamp and pressing r for reloading weapons in combination with turning around to endless materialising enemies is the ideal recipe for entertainment. The Alan Wake universe as a game is a bad joke, brilliant graphics aside. I threw my money away for such a piss.
Alan Wake shows that authors aren't gunslingers. Alan Wake walks and plays like he has a woodblock in his ass. He can't go straigth, he can't reload his weapons fast, he runs slow, he has problems with jumping around, he turns around uncoordinated especially when foes are following him. Sounds like a really good mixture for a 3rd-person-shooter programmed by the makers of good old Max Payne? Remedy entertainment are you kidding me? Alan Wake seems to be the pussy Duke Nukem always complained about in his games. It's enough, that was my last try for this company. The programmed enemy chars don't seem to have these problems, but that's fair because they are always in majority. Enemies who materialise behind each corner out of nothing. Always being hunted you also have to look for items to collect like papers or thermos jugs. Yes, really, thermos jugs. What a brilliant idea?! Did I mention that you always have low ammunition and that it is neccessary to combine the light of your lamp with firing bullets in the right way? But no problem, you will have to play the same scenes again and again and again because you can't save when you want. 2 stars only for the really nice looking scenery. It would have been better to program an adventure story of Alan Wake. I hate boring adventure games and therefore I would have saved my money.
Wow, what a wonderful game. Due to some negative reviews I expected nothing. In former times I started to play one of the dos titles of x-com but I couldn't get into it. In this game you are right in the middle from the beginning to the end. I was sticked to the screen, you mean to feel the heart and soul of the programmers. The atmosphere is brilliant. I admire the graphic style and the setting in the fifties. The characters are persuading. I paid full price and it is worth every single cent. I had to repeat some of the missions again and again and even that brought extremely fun in comparison to most of the today games. The pure game mechanics work. The different attack styles of the crew members are fascinating. There are minor issues like to hear a lot of boring dialogues in the base. Would have been better to have this in text form instead. Nevertheless it has a nice story plot at all. I can't understand why republic commando was lavished with good reviews, in my opinion this tactical sci-fi shooter was much better. I wish they could progam a 3D fantasy game in this tactical action style.
After finishing the endless repetitive main migraine attack part of Mafia III I found out that I bought the extended version of the game with 4 DLCs instead the usual game. ;-( I started with this one. This time they programmed a real detective like story with a voodoo background. Yes, you hear right. Fortunately they don't program a story with negro zombies in chains, but let's wait for potential DLCs in future. The programmers must have taken voodoo drugs or doing satanic rituals themselves. In my opinion detective elements playing godfather Lincoln make no sense, but otherwise Mafia III felt the whole time like a Starsky & Hutch movie without Starsky & Hutch. But please: why all this under the Mafia label? Only to milk the fans of the first two games? What do we have to expect in Mafia 4? This time the eighties in Europe? Killing endless respawning waves of dark gothics hearing Depeche Mode and other pop songs in the radio? 3 stars again for enjoying cruising around the beautiful city between senseless missions.
After the long main part of two worlds II I couldn't get through three missions of the DLC flying fortress after 5 1/2 hours of in game time of this DLC. You can use codes in the main menu to reset or finish missions, but I am not interested in beta testing a more than 8 years old DLC and therefore I deleted two worlds II from my hard disk. I will skip the other DLCs like Tenebrae. Two worlds I was superb due to his open world feeling. You can go everywhere you want. In two worlds II you will be babysitted everywhere you go. Videos are popping up here and there because good games need endless video material with spoken language. I found the story line boring like the desert landscape or the dark dungeons you will see most of the time. The music is not worth mentioning. The publisher was promoting his ingenious magic system. You can build you own magic spells with cards. Sounds good? Bad executed and not really spectacular. Why then 4 stars? The mix of melee combat and using spell attacks brought a lot of fun and the collecting mania worked.
At first you must keep in mind that crusaders is now 20 years old. The publisher made the mistake to launch this title under the label of might & magic to milk the customer which broke his neck later on. Crusaders has the best soundtracks I 've ever heard in a Computer game composed by Paul Anthony Romero. Okay, nothing new to fans because most of the tracks you can find in heroes II + III or might & magic 7. I like the colorful comic style and the mixture of sword fights and magic attacks you can use. The game has a lot of problems like clipping errors or only a few different enemy models. It's not an open world more a world of corridors, but in this time era most of the games were map based and I prefer corridors instead. All the time it feels like a short console port, but it was solely produced for the pc. A totally different playstation version shall exist of this title, too. The variety of weapons is limited and too similar. Most of the times you are running around to bring collected items to the very rare merchants. If teleports were programmed this relatively short title would have been very short. It was one of the first fighting games with a functional shield collision defense. The negative points beside I had a lot of fun to fight through this world testing the different magic spells you can find and not for only one time. At last I beat it on hardest level.
Do you like games comparable with Moorhuhn? Then buy this not good title but beware because now you' re the masochistic Moorhuhn! I am trying hard to beat this game, but I get the hang of it because it is becoming a roguelike due to dozens and dozens of deaths. This is the first game I really got migraine attacks. It is more work than fun. The difficulty level is often much too hard and I am playing shooters since the beginning of the computer technology. Fortunately I only bought the normal version and not the more expensive edition or one of the DLCs. ;-) Keep it! I think, the Mafia must have placed some programmers into a room with drawn weapons to accomplish this game. Awful game mechanics in this third mafia title in combination with being grasping to offer an optional in mission savegame feature. It's a shame because the artwork and atmosphere is awesome. And in opposition to other reviewers I also like the setting. Often it is fun cruising around between the missions to admire the landscape. The car models are nice. The a.i. behaviour of some other road users who are crossing your line can be absolutely nerve killing. Police chases in the mission are pure horror because they are trying to catch you directly glued on your rear bumper. And not only one car was pinned there to shoot on your wheels. One time I felt into a river with my car, I got out of the car and after that I was directly attacked and killed by an alligator which must have been a disguised undercover agent of the police. And the big brother is everywhere like the endless waves of capos especially when some of them are calling for reinforcement again and again. In case of an alarm big brother always knows exactly where you are. They are coming from everywhere to eat you!
