I have the OST on steam. it's really a very good OST, with this game; Too bad we didn't have any lossless OST : MP3 are really audio files from the end of 90 ies !! We have smartphone with 64, 128 Go, nowadays.... and good headphones, too !!
wow.. Times flies ! I was playing with my PS2 and my xbox (hum.. xbox classic for the youngsters...) and bam.. it's 2020. But why do we have nowadays , "remastered" PC versions of video games from the early 2000 ? Easy : - graphical engine were.... hum difficult to master... Sometimes you had a better visual result with ... consoles - most of the PC players, back in the days used to play with... keyboard and mouse. So, we have here , classical action / platform game, with a sexy hero (lara croft launched this passion for female hero...). nothing very subtle here : It's a gory, it's repetitive, but.... it's rather fun, when you want deal with a hard day of work. This "remastered" version works "out of the box" with our modern windows 10 PC. So the work of Ziggurat interactive is done for me, here. I also urge you to play with a controller, since this game was made for the PS2 or the xbox in mind.
I played this game, back in the days. I also replay it, few weeks ago (YES, you can still pay your original copy on windows 10 ... it's a little bit tricky but you can). that's why buying from GOG is great opportunity to play this game without any technical problem ... I'm must also say that I'm a big fan of the movie (ans less about the sequel...). You won't play with the heroes from the movies here, but you will hear about them, indirectly. You will get many different endings. The interaction is most of the time limited (approach people, speak, shoot, etc.) The technical aspect was really "ahead of its time", but... more than 20 years later, it's very blurry. it's sometimes problematic, especially during the research sequences (you are a cop and you must find some evidences in order to continue your investigation). The pro gamers of adventure games will know by heart what I'm referring to : you need to find evidences, on a pixel base. If you have a blurry image (the game looks like someone "zoomed" the picture... ) . this is the "price to pay" when you choose to use the voxel technology in your game... If you read me up to this point you can think I don't like this game at all... but on contrary ! With this game, you can feel the '"ambiance" of the movie. You will find new musics composition (made by Frank Klepacki) but Vangeli's partition is there too. (Too bad GOG didn't get also the CD music from Frank Klepacki... ) You can feel that you are a blade runner in cyberpunk futuristic world, just like in the movie! For me, this game is an interesting experience because it started the changing of adventure games. Between FMV games from this era ( with basic actions like "interact, watch a movie , interact watch another movie"..) and the traditional adventure games (like Atlantis , full 3D but most of time an empty background with no NPC to interact...), you have Blade runner !
